Preferred gate?

A friend of mine who has been to Glastonbury a few times, recommended going to Gate C.

Unfortunately, he is out of the country and out of contact at the moment, so wasn't able to find out why that particular gate

Anyone tell me why that gate would be preferred over others?

Also is it situated at car park East or West?

Gate C is on the East side, it is the main entrance for the East Car Parks and the Campervan people. The east side has a great view over the site, it is also the closer side for people arriving from the east i.e. london.

It really depends on what day you are arriving and where you would like to camp. I always think it is best to park as close as possible to where you are camping

You don't really get to choose a gate. When driving, the closest you get to a choice is whether to approach from the East or from the West. Once you get reasonably close to the festival, signposting kicks in, you follow the signs, and eventually get parked where the stewards tell you to park.

Then, I'd pretty much say that you always want to go to the closest pedestrian gate to where you're parked, because wherever you're camping, it'll be easier to get to it across the site than around it.

I imagine your mate said gate C because that's where they've always happened to end up. I've usually ended up there too.

If you're coming from the North or South, you might plan your route to choose between West or East. I would suggest that if you're coming from East or West, it's not worth overshooting and coming round; it's quicker to do that distance on foot!
