you tried to leave out the whole sentence which was -

if I switch it to something I do know about - say I was working in the bar and a underage teenager came up and showed a fake id and tried to slip me £ 20 for me to turn a blind eye I know exactly what I would do.

I would get Security to grab him and he would be reported to Police.

if you cant work out why that is different from someone just showing fake id and not offering a bribe then that is your problem not mine.

You appear to think that someone offering a bribe is not important well I am sure the Police would look at it in a different matter.

Mendip Council would go nuts if they thought it was so easy to bribe staff either at the gate or the bar.

Normally if a person hands over fake id and they spot us checking it using UV Light or comparison with a real PASS Card they will vanish from the bar before we have time to do a full check.

Staff have to follow the procedures and if they don't they will not be asked back.

At the end of the day anyone offering a bribe will have to face the consequences

blimey glastoworker whats up with you. You're just the type of person Glasto does'nt want to attract, impatient and unforgiving.

If contacting security and police is the way you are expecting to treat such minor hiccups at such a huge festival then you are incredibly naive. By Wednesday afternoon it'll be you that the old bill are having a stern word with for being such a t wat!

Sorry, nothing personal but had to be said ;)

Sorry but you know f**k all about the different aspects of the licencing if you think this. People from the Council regularly check the system on all gates (pedestrian and vehicle) to make sure every steward knows what they are doing. If they find stewards doing things wrong, not checking, etc that gets reported back. Of course that has an affect on the licence. And tickets changing hands is something they take into account. Sorry if that goes against what you think, but there you go.

So trying to encourage people to break the law is the Glastonbury way.

If you have a problem change the law - the bars cant operate without a license and in order to obtain that staff cant pick and choose what action they take.

Some of you may think you can buy your way out of trouble by offering bribes - well I was not brought up that way and you should not encourage others to behave in this fashion.

At most events the bars are under scrutiny from Trading standards and I am sure if we took your advice we would be shut down that very day.

I wonder if you would take the same attitude if you found some poor kids stealing your stuff out of your tent. I bet you would be calling up the Police.

I take it you don't have any experience in working in a bar - I only have 21 years.

It could be the local authorities running a sting operation so testing the staff.

it could be the Bar operators testing the staff.

either way I cant turn a blind eye as everyone who works in a bar has to sign a contract agreeing to be bound by The Licensing Act 2003

the two are alike as people should not put staff in a situation where they may risk their job.

ticket checkers would not have a clue the source of the tickets so it could be a best friend or a tout on ebay selling them.

if ticket checkers were likely to turn a blind eye for £ 20 then this would increase ticket touts not reduce them.

if they can be bought so cheap why bother with a ticket in the first place.

people are only looking at it one way .

If you were on that gate and there was a good possibility that you would be caught and may risk prosecution for fraud and of course you can kick goodbye to your job would you risk it ?
