So pretty skint going to Glasto this year.

Usually have around £300 to take with me, but due to unforseen circumstances im going with £200.

I have not got a Cooker to take with me but wanted to take some pot noodles etc.

Obviously ill need water for them, and i was wondering if anyone knows its possible to get Hot Water from the Stalls. Obviously id be willing to pay for the hot water, for a small fee.

Has anyone ever done this before?

You need a meths travel kettle

1 Army alcohol gel stove like this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Army-Surplus-Gel-Fue...=item563d0d922c

(which is the most expensive I have seen them, they are usually under £3)

Or a greenheat backpacker stove.

For when the gel is used up pack

A bag of cotton wool

Bottle of meths (500ml should just about last you if you do 2 or 3 boil ups a day, but I would recomend you pack another bottle just in case)

When the Gel is used up, just clean it out with a meths soaked bit of cotton wool and stuff it full of cotton wool and soak it with meths and continue to use as is.

And for boiling water a stainless steel mug with a lid, often 1 1/2 to 2 pint sized ones can be found in pound shops. Take a flannel and use it take it off the stove as the handle heats up.

All but the meths bottle packs up inside the mug.

should not set you back any more than £15 all in. If you hunt arounds, under £10.

Boil time is slow, about 5-7 minutes depending on conditions, but it works and is compact to carry.

Add brew stuff (teas, instant coffee +baileys minis) mug, bowl and wash kit for the full on capabilities of having teas, coffess, cuppa soups/pot noodles and strip washes. Stove and meths should all fit inside one side pocket of most ruck sacks.

Those meths stoves are good, and cheap.

So are these solid fuel stoves - £2.25:

I'm pretty sure you'll be able to buy spare fuel on site, although what you get up front should last for *at least* one boil per day.

I've seen slightly more expensive meths stoves in which the stove, the fuel, and a pan all nest up together for easy packing.

i have had hot water from stalls before to make lemsips. some of them gave me it for free, some of them charged me 20p

i would suggest carrying your own mug around with you that will take the amount of water you need and keeping the pot noodle for yourself. That way you're not wasting one of their cups and they won't get miffed that you're cheating them out of potential business (you're not going to buy from them anyway so you're not, but they might charge you over the odds for making your own meal i imagine?)
