This new layout sucks

by the way neil, i posted a few days ago about the website kind of crushing itself over to the left hand side on my ps3 browser...

well i dont know what you did, but its working ok now sorry i didnt get back to you with the screenshots I promised, ive been stressed out with glastonbury planning (im a last minute rush kind of person haha)

Yup, the profile bit of the poster is smaller, and the posting section is larger.

However, where have these videos in between posts appeared from? They weren't there before I went away for the weekend

They are pretty annoying.

They've come from the right hand side of the page, where everyone moaned about them. So they've been moved elsewhere, where everyone moans about them.

The simple fact is that they remain on these forums, or these forums don't remain in existence. eFestivals can not afford to subsidise these forums.

What's more annoying? The ads, or not having these forums?

Just returned from a weekends festivalling (volunteering actually) to find the forum back to something like it was. The green triangles have gone... the scale is now back to what it was ie 20% avatar 60% content and 20% ads to the right.

Only thing for me...is that more often than not--- when i click on a topic,or whatever...it starts to load up...and i get about 3 or 4 of the green blocks at the bottom of my screen showing progress..then it just stops and i end up having to press the REFRESH button...it takes ages.

Also what has been happening is that it loads up...and says DONE in bottom right of screen..but theres nowt there...only banner across the top and noi content under.

What i see now is 100% better than what i was using last thursday.

Got to have ads...so in any which way or form... we got to accept em--or dont use the forum.

I quite like the new layout if I'm honest. I would say I prefer the old one at the mo, but no doubt if we look back in a few months that'll look really dated.

I got loads of java script errors on the old one too. So no change for me there!

What I am getting is pop-ups, opening up a new Explorer window from a betting firm whose website is being barred from my work server. Any ideas how to stop this happening everytime I first come in to the eFF site?

Also the PM/Blog/Add A Fiend characters are way out east into the main txt and obscuring some parts of folks posts. (Instead of being under the username section?)

Top right. Right above the forums themselves underneath the ad at the top of the page. It's a combined search function for the website and the forums now i think.

You've clearly identified the answer, but prefer to annoy yourself by how you're choosing to use your browser. There is no perfect answer if a user chooses to f**k things up for themselves. That's outside of my control.

There is no perfect layout to suit all users. The layout that exists is designed to be usable by the greatest number.

It only f**ks up for people who expect to read something in a smaller space than the design is designed for. Funnily enough, it's the exact same problem for every single website on the interweb including the likes of the BBC website. It's only those who think themselves as some sort of unalterable 'individual' () who find that websites don't work for them.

Never mind, you'll get over it one day. Perhaps.

Oh yes, just remembered this. When you were all away living it large in a field over the weekend, I was in the FlashChat with Pezzypops and gratedenni. Anyways, in the old flash chat, it used to use your forum name. In the new one, its using my login name which is different to my forum name, which caused a tense moment of confusion when I first joined the chatroom

I've managed to correct this problem in the past, and have just tried to quickly make the same change, but unfortunately it didn't work because of the changes in this version of the forums software - it's a bit more complicated this time around.

When I have a bit more time I'll try and correct this.

I work on the internet all day every day, and have multiple windows open on many different things all day every day, while you don't.

It's not an issue for me to use these forums as they are, nor for any efestivals staff, and in fact no other person has made this complaint.

So it's just you. You, who expects the world to fit around you, rather than you bending a little on occasion to how the world is.

Whichever way this site or any website was designed, a person can manipulate their browser and then say "it doesn't work for me". as it's not possible to please all people all of the time I don't bother trying and never will.

as oaf has already pointed out, that's not an image of any kind that you're tryi8ng to post as an image.

And further to that, images with URLs such as that have NEVER been able to be posted on these forums, only links to images that include a file extension of a particular type, such as .jpg's and .gif's.

So your complaint is 100% misplaced, and the error is all yours.
