It's no different to an ad for a TV. Both are ways to try and tempt people to do business with that company.

The interest rates are shit. But just as with the TV, no one is forced to take up the offer. If someone is going to take on a loan they can't afford, they'll do it with or without that advert.

Having said that, if I were in the position to pick and choose, I would do. Has your own income fallen by over half in the last year, to the point where you'd be HUGELY better off on the dole? ;)

So all of our society isn't ethical - it's the whole bloody point of capitalism. Your prosperity REQUIRES others to die due to poverty. Get used to it. ;)

All the same, I believe this website manages to be more ethical than all of its competitors.

I've been reading the forums on their site and some of the people on there have taken out loans and then added to them rather than pay them off on the due date, then the interest continues to mount up and they'll likely never be able to pay it back.

In which case the biggest loser is the loan company and not the borrower.

I believe you about you being more ethical than competitors though

it's certainly the case that I don't deal with companies that want your money without adding value to what they give you in return, unlike competitors.

and i did say i understand you need to advertise. It is a shame you have to take Wonga though. Fecking sharks!

As I've said, I'd rather not.

But, to give a few examples:-

My nearest competitor has made people redundant. eFestivals hasn't.

My nearest competitor went as good as bankrupt, and has been 'sold' by its founder as a result.

Just had my 2009 accounts done, and my income is down £10k on the previous year. Which meant my total income was about £6k last year. This year is worse.

In an ideal world I'd have no ads here at all. And all it needs is for every visitor in a single month to earn eFestivals 10p and then earn efests nothing for the rest of the year. Sounds simple doesn't it? Wish it was. ;)
