Traveling from the North East in time for the football..?

Anyone travelling from the north east on the Wednesday intending to get camp set up in time before the 3pm match?

Is it completely unfeasible to make it if we set off at 6:30am from Newcastle.. allowing 6.30 hrs travel time and 2 hours to get set up?

We were going to go down on the tuesday but it doesn't look like people in my group want to sleep in the cars now :(

Bit worried about missing the match and/or hitting aweful traffic, although last year we left at around 7am and dawdled all the way down with a couple of stops, and were set up around 3.30pm (we managed to miss all the site entry traffic)

Not sure whether to just get up earlier?! like at 5am? I jusy doubt my group will be easy to get out of bed and shaped up ha ha!

If you are doing the journey from the north east how are you going to time it? :)

Alreet, :D

Catching the match is our priority so we're taking no chances. Minibus has been hired and we're starting our pickups at 10pm Tuesday night with a view to being on the A1 for 11. Slow drive down and get there for about 6am.

I think you'll be lucky if you get to watch the match if you leave on Wednesday morning. My take on the crowd is that the majority of people will be trying to get there before kick off.

hiya ;) We are travelling from the toon and in a VW campervan so journo will be slow - hoping to leave at 6 a.m. and get there in time for match but now having doubts! Probably just park up and leg it down there if we are running late although putting an awning up after a few beers/wine could be interesting

I'll be leaving Hemel Hempstead at 05:00 on the dot, not a minute later! I know, I'm a soft southerner but if I'm leaving at that time I think you boys need to smarten up your act a little and make damn sure you get away much earlier than you are planning. Where's the commitment eh? ;)

ha ha don't get me wrong, I'm fully committed, its my slack mates who won't get out of bed!!

Gona push for a 5:30am departure, I recon we can make it though, will take us around 8 hours max from newcastle to get parked up, we will be taking the back roads again to miss the traffic jams, and hopefully that will go as smoothly as last time.

Just gona leave all the gear in the car and only take the tents and beer, go set the tent up and straight to the pyramid stage!! :D

Will come back to the car later for the rest of the gear, possibly 'slightly' wobbly but taking everything in the first trip will slow us down majorly!!
