Leaving the site mid festival

I'm traveling down on Tuesday from South Manchester. Unfortunately I have to leave the site on Thursday to attend a funeral. I plan to leave Thursday morning and come back after the service Thursday afternoon. What sort of timescale should I give to leave the site and how long do you reckon it would take me to get back on site on Thursday evening?

It's a blag of a journey but has to be done.

Cheers.

Personally mate i'd be tempted to leave Wednesday night and give yourself some time to sleep before the service. I’d give yourself at least five or six hours drive each way to allow for unforeseen problems.

Leaving at the crack of dawn on Thursday after probably a few the night before and driving for twelve hours with only a couple of hours break is a recipe for disaster. If I were you I’d forego the Wednesday night and make sure I was well rested so I could enjoy the Thursday night.

Thursday’s when things really start to happen so even though it’s not ideal I’d say give the Wednesday a miss so you can make the most of the rest of the festival without feeling shite.

Another suggestion, and one that I’d consider seriously would be to get a friend to pitch your tent for you and stay behind until after the funeral. Seems a long way to travel for a few hours on the day before anything really gets started.

Also, you do know you're not allowed in on the Tuesday don't you? You can get into the car parks but you're not allowed to get out of your cars until the main festival gates open at 8am on the Wednesday morning.

Thanks for the advice. After thinking about it a bit more I think I'm going to do what you suggest and get my mates to pitch my tent and I'll travel down Thursday evening.

Anyone know if it's still possible to get car park tickets delivered?

More than welcome squire! Nothing worse than getting to Glasto and being too wrecked to enjoy it. Last year I travelled down at 2 am on the Wednesday, stayed up all night and all day Wednesday and ruined the Thursday for myself because the weather was far too hot to get any sleep to recover.

Make sure you get there fresh and take it from there is my rule number one for this year.Just worry about getting yourself there and look forward to an amazing few days.

Also Car park tickets are available on the gate when you get there so i wouldn't worry about that too much. Trying to get them delivered now would I imagine be a right pain even if it was possible.
