That's it, I've attended my last SPL game! Tonight, we started well, had a few chances then conceed a sloppy goal (once again!!). Once Hibs were 1-0 up we went from decent to completely abysmal and it was only a matter of time before Hibs scored a 2nd. Has anyone ever seen a manager play 2 at the back? It was Billy Reid's super brainwave and within seconds Hibs had the ball in the net! An utter joke and complete shambles from then on! MAC must have got sick of the ref blowing his whistle due to the amount of times he got caught offside.

Congrats to Flavio Paixao though for his first shot on target in about 3 months! <_<

By all reports we should have come away with a win tonight, happy with a clean sheet considering doobs is out, but disappointed that we failed to score again! (although sounds as tho credit should go to langfield for that)

I dont think we can make top 6 now, a win against Hibs would leave us with a bit of hope but dundee utd have a ridiculous number of games in hand.

This Old Firm game is a perfect illustration why Strathclyde Police feel the need to keep OF matches, where possible, to half 12 on a sunday - just means the rather large moronic section of their fans can't drink all day before the match. It's one of the main reasons why the television deal isn't as big as it could be - Sky have to show OF matches at half 12 rather than any time they want because of police orders, after that OF match played at 6pm on a sunday a few years back where hugh dallas was hit by a coin.

But we 'diddies' should just shut up and be thankful for the wonderous football institution that is the OF, eh?

Any source for the bit in bold?

And obviously Sky don't have to show games just at 12.30, otherwise they wouldn't have been able to show Wednesdays game?

I think rexclark was more on about the antics of both teams rather than the fans on Wednesday.

Ok so why do they show the rest of the SPL games on a Sunday at 12.30pm then?

That's the slot the SPL has arranged with Sky to show the games, not just the OF games..that was the deal that was signed.

There has been a couple of early Saturday games I think, but the majority are shown at that time.

Maybe because they know that every match can take place at half 12 on a Sunday? Makes sense because it allows the TV companies to schedule matches every week, theres not much point switching the schedule around because of Scottish football (hardly Sky's top priority let's face it) every week. It used to be 6pm on a Sunday (because Sky wanted it there), Hugh Dallas gets hit by a coin and matches changed to half 12 every Sunday thereafter. Matches involving one of the OF and every other team in the SPL have been shown on TV later on a Sunday and on Mondays too sometimes.

It wasn't the only game to be played on a wednesday night, off the top of my head I remember a wednesday night game a few years ago where hesselink scored a last minute winner and another in 2001 at hampden in a cup semi final. I know because I was at the both.

I can't remember any others, it is possible there are. Where they do exist they I would think they would be due to postponments or cup matches, like those two. Tbh though at the same time though, I struggle to remember how many times we have played Dundee Utd midweek and again the one that comes to mind was moved to a thursday for Rangers eufa cup match. Checking the website celtic play around 6 midweek league matches a year based on the last 2 years. These tend to be played more at home last year and a nearer 50/50 home and away this year and predominently in the second half of the season. I couldn't tell you how many are rescheduled. I think its just the case that there are not a lot of games played midweek, rather than any particular agenda to stop a midweek old firm game.

Also I read on the evening times the other day that the police would prefer a midweek fixture.
