if this happened 3 years ago, then i couldn maybe see your point. but with everything that's been happening the past couple months, there's no way i can see it as anything else but related.

as i say, why not run onto the pitch to try and punch scot brown, who is on a par with lennon, bar religion and nationality.

do you honestly think that if lennon was english and a protestant that we'd be seeing the same stories in the news?

I'd be very surprised if this wasn't motivated partly by religion. Yes Neil Lennon is an irratating fanny but there have been plenty of irratating fannies in football who haven't been subjected to the same treatment. The attack on him the other night came down to not just the fact he's an irratating fanny but the fact he's a Catholic, Irish, Irratating Fanny.

moaning? a hearts fan punched celtic manager for moaning? jeffries and brown are the biggest moaners in the country!

do the police see throwing an egg as breach of the peace and assault? if so, then you might have a point. (genuine question)

regards martin o'neil, i'm not sure. he was more likeable that lennon. maybe it's cos of lennon's long association with celtic. i'm not denying that a part of this is cos lennon is a hugely unlikeable character. it's just that some people refuse to believe that it has a single thing to do with religion, which it clearly does have. if lennon was porteugese, this wouldn't be happening.

(Neil Lennon)

...moaned constantly about refereeing decisions and implied bias against celtic. He also has implied that other teams lie down against rangers in the last few days. Theres a large section of the hearts support that supports rangers too i believe, so it could be bigotry related. But I think if neil lennon didnt act like a complete fanny when facing the media - deflecting from his own teams shortcomings - which are plentiful despite the massive financial advantage his team holds over the others - then stuff like this might not have happened. Thats not to say that i think they were in any way justified, but theres a non-religion reason for it.

...why did no-one send parcel bombs to martin o neill or try to punch him on the touchline? He, like lennon, is a northern irish catholic.

What Wednesday nights game has proven is that no one deserves to be attavked while doing their job whether it be managing Celtic or Stuarding the crowd.

Neil Lennon should leave for the sake of himself, his family, Celtic Foootball Club and Scottish football in general. His antics have pissed off the majority of non Celtic fans and he's brought shame on Celtic no mattter how much the fans worship him.

I would say alot of majority of the abuse he get's is down to religion but on the other side, if he wasn't an Irish Catholic would the fans stick up for him as much as they do? I doubt it, they never did for Strachan who was far more sucessful. In my opinion Lennnon is so popular because he has the same view as alot of celtic fans, that they're the victims of some larger conspiracy and all he does is fan the flames. Rangers fans can be just as bad but at least Walter Smith conducts himself with some dignity and is well respected.

This season has just been rotten, from a personal point of view and from a football fans point of view. The sooner it ends thye better.

see i don't get the whole dignified walter thing. i remember him pushing away mixu patelainan once to put hands on the 4th official to complain at a decision. and that wasn't an isolated incident.

he seems to be able to walk on water. maybe he's earned it with longevity, i dunno. but he's no saint.
