More campervan questions!

Hi,

More campervan questions for the more experienced out there!! Appreciate any help and advise.

First time at Glastonbury, and very excited and pleased to get our tickets and campervan ticket for the East campervan fields. There will be me (Mum) and my 12 and 15 year olds with our trusty T4/awning. This is a special treat for my 15 year old daughter in celebration of the end of her GCSEs!

Quite experienced in normal camping with the van - but this is somewhat different!

1. How level are the fields, do we need to buy levelling blocks?

2. Have been collecting large sheets of cardboard for the potential mud. Van is a nightmare in mud - do the campervan fields get very muddy, would it be best (if we can) to pitch up close to a track/road?

3. Picking my son up from school at 3.30pm on the Tuesday, should arrive about 7pm - are there likely to be long queues at that time or would it be better to park up close to the site and drive in about midnight?

4. Would it be best to arrive off the M5/A39 - where abouts on the A37 from there do you pick up the blue route?

5. May be a strange question, but glass- I do appreciate not having glass bottles but what are the rules on glass globes in gaslights and glass candle lanterns?

Sorry to be so long-winded.

Any replies greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

1. Pretty level but a couple of the fields have quite a slope (more than levelling blocks will cure). Family Campervan field, if it isn't full is level and the ones behind it are.

2. You get parked where you are directed. You might be near a track, but it makes little difference. If muddy, then it's muddy and the tracks get churned up straight away. Worst case you'll be waiting for a tractor to tow you out, but not this year! (fingers crossed)

3. Deal with the queues. The sooner you get parked the nearer you will be to the gate. The queues aren't usually too bad, but last year was with road works and accidents etc.

4. No idea but the festival should be signposted from your motorway exit.

5. Not a problem. No glass bottles. Preferably no glass containers - jam, salsa jars etc. But obviously there is glass in lanterns, torches, headlamps, windscreens etc.

4. Depends on whether you have a ticket for east or west? East has access from the A37 and the west has access from the A361.

Have a look at GlasotEarth shows all the routes (you need google earth installed though).

JamesHunt and Late,

Many thanks for your replies. Very informative.

Did'nt realise there was a family camper van field - its not marked on the map - do you know what E number field it is - do I just ask the parking stewards to go into that field, if there is room?

Thanks again.

Handsomedan and Jameshunt

Thanks for replying with more info.

Just seen the BBC ad for the Glastonbury coverage - cant believe we are actually going to be there this year!!

Just a bit more food shopping/sorting out the leisure battery tomorrow/packing all of our stuff into the van and we are ready to go!!

May be uncool - but I am so EXCITED!!

Heres to a great event.
