Lucky you getting backstage passes!!!

i've just bought a solar charger (freeloader) for my iphone, I'm planning to connect it up to my day bag (backpack) and charge it throughout the day!

Can't help you otherwise though sorry!!

I dont think Freeloaders work like that mate.

I visited the official Freeloader stall in the Greenfields last year and they told me you are supposed to charge the pack up without anything attached to it and it takes a minimum of 8 hours to charge. YOu can buy another extra panel to half the charging time but you still shouldnt attach the phone to the charger whilst charging.

I have also found that my barely used but 3 year old Freeloader doesnt even give me 2 bars on my 10 bar HTC despite solar charging the panels on my windowsill for 10 hours a day at

the mo.

Have a look at the Portable charger thread in Chat. Its 11 pages long and has lots of ideas.

Also I bought this today on recommendation from a fellow efester: Alternative solar charger

thanks for that Lucy - I did have a read through that - and there was so many I couldn't make up my mind, so my hubby did a bit of research online and we came up with the freeloader.

I planned to just charge up with solar power during the day (not connected to the iphone) then charge the phone overnight once the solar is full - I'm expecting to only have to top up the phone and freeloader as don't plan to be on the phone a lot, just really for emergencies and hopefully load a photo or 2 to facebook throughout the week/weekend!

Hopefully it's going to arrive tomorrow so will be able to charge electronically before I go so first charge will be non solar!

so a new poster joins, and in their first post asks about solar charging whilst mentioning 'backstage passes', which at a festival with tens of stages, is a meaningless term. Glastonbury has no 'backstage'.

Then another very new poster soon replies and mentions a product name.

Man, the marketer's run up to glasto on these boards is ill thought through.

Oh for goodness sake, do what I do:

1. Ditch the iPhone. You wouldn't want to lose it in the mud / dust / crowd and won't be able to get a useful data signal anyway

2. Buy / borrow a cheap phone with decent battery life (I use my old Sony Ericsson)

3. Use the phone minimally - for arranging to meet mates and essential secret slot texts

4. Turn off 3G, turn it off overnight and it'll easily last the five days. Job done

It's Glastonbury. You don't need to check Twitter / email / anything every five minutes. That's part of the fun of the place.

Gah.

A) I've never been before so dong know about signals etc

B) I want to make sure I'm contactable due to important work contract

C) I will be taking my old nokia for said text to meet friends etc!

I will be turning phone and/or 3G off most of time!

But thanks for the guidance - and the freeloader arrived today and seems to work ok so far!
