Smuggling is a right laugh. You spend your time wrecking ships and stashing a bunch of silver and fags all over the shop. As well as that you might even get to smash loads of mental boat parties right in, which is precisely what Smugglersrun Soundsystem have been up to for time. In high seas they drop anchor and blow their hornpipes with Circoloco, Sankeys and Space... and they decided to celebrate their seventh birthday at Micron!

Captain on this voyage is the incomparable Mistress De Funk with local heroes Kris James and Nik Feral drinking rum and scrubbing the decks. One of our earliest encounters with Mistress was at an early KeToLoCo house party (before the threat of jail forced them into ‘proper’ clubs). She absolutely ripped the place apart and we knew right then we had to book her for Micron... but she’s a busy wee lassie (what with Sankeys, Tribal Sessions, a Radio 1 residency, her own label [Peep Show] and a global touring regime) so it has taken us a while to catch her!

Smugglersrun has been the pioneer boat party/event for Manchester's, hedonists, misfits, schmoozers, boozers, shakers and wannabes!

For the best part of SEVEN!!! fantastic years this July, described by DJ Mag as a; "Crotchless balls to the wall expedition in next level wrongness".

It was decided SEVEN years ago that land locked clubs were staler than a pirates privates, and there was only so much we could do with two decks and a dance floor, unless we added the deck of our ship, Bohemia complete with it's ridiculous sound system!

A new breed of deviants began to wash their hair in the Manchester ship canal rather than the mainstream. Miguel 'Da Original Lowrida' (Sankeys & Spektrum), Kris James, Mistress De Funk (Radio 1), Bigger Than Jesus & new resident Nik Feral collectively form the Smugglers Soundsystem, each individual with their unique style & sound, specialising in upfront techno and tech-house, our musical ethos.....'Vermin Bass Driven Shanty House Music'

Smugglers created a platform for the Manchester's techno scene as well as sourcing and establishing a new breed of innovative talent, gaining notarity over the growing years from respected artists and well respected industry professionals, such as:
