Hmmm, off the top of my head, and they're hardly the most underground bunch of bands so you've probably heard them already, but some bands I'm currently listening to are:

Alabama 3

Shack

I Am Kloot

Jurassic 5

Kingmaker

Right..check out Gandalf Murphy and The Slambovian Circus of Dreams

Its a mix of rock and pychodelica but not that heavy. Easily the best band we`ve stumbled across over the last 4yrs or so.

Love em.

Well, its a friggin bad one then!

The Searchers are a very emotive thing for me. As a very young child, one of my most vivid memories is of me mam crying when The Carnaval is Over was played on the radio.

I couldnt understand it cos it was very popular and i would sing along to it etc.

I only found out years later that it came out just when my sister was dying (14) and apparently she had been saying to me Mam that she would be "better soon" and would be able to go to the local Carnaval.

you need to get past the first mentalness if you arent familiar with DEP, it gets a lot more melodic after 1:52, which is the bit that will grab you.

Its VERY easy to dismiss DEP as "just a f**king noise" because thats exactly what they sound like to the uninitiated, I dimissed them for the last 5 years - and then I allowed them to grab me, and havent looked back.

Black Bubblegum is a lot more accessible, very Faith No More.

Just watching some youtube videos at the moment. Its a bit non-de-script, but pleasant enough. Do they have a best album?

Listen to Isolation Drills by Guided By Voices. One of the best and most underrated albums of the early 00's IMO, then after that listen to their whole back catalogue.
