Forget Specsavers, you should have gone to GLASTONBURY!

Hi All,

Having just returned from one of the best weeks of my life at Glastonbury I am intrigued as to why people would choose another festival over the legendary daddy of them all - Glasto? In my humble opinion all the other 'dirty festival' would never be a patch on it, so considering they are all around the same price, why oh why would you not choose to come to Glastonbury??

Have the majority of people going to other festivals also been to Glasto? What are your thoughts? How do u compare them? What about people who simply think Glasto aint for them....? Crazy!

Obviously if you tried and failed to get a ticket then this is fair enough, but seriously people cant prefer to go to V, Leeds, Reading etc over the Glastonbury??

Thoughts on a postcard.

I'd love to go to Glatonbury, it just seems like a mission and a half as it is sooo big! But maybe one time I will brave it, I think you have to do Glastonbury at least once! Glad you had a good time, you certainly had the weather on your side!

Well I may push the boat out next year and get myself down there, whats the bet its chucking it down next year!! hehe. I was having a look on the glastonbury website a few weeks ago and thought it looked pretty amazing, the shangrila (spelt wrong) area looks pretty cool too!

...not to slate V at all, cos I love it, but one thing that did disappoint me was that pretty much everything closes off at 11pm and i'm a night girl, fair enough we continued the party at our camper but its not the same.

My bloke raves about Big Chill, he goes to that every year and said the atmosphere and vibe is great, really friendly, suppose they dont get the big names like some of the others do, but it depends what your after!

going to t in the park (tomorrow-yay!) for the 7th time but was thinking it was time to spread the old wings-festivals down south have always seemed a bit of a mission to travel down from the arctic circle (ie aberdeen  ) but have decided to go to v this year at weston cos after seeing the line up over the two days there is always a band on i want to see :)

Plan for next year is glastonbury with a campervan :D 5 days seems a bit of a stretch camping so we are gonna try out the whole glastonbury experience for the first time in a bit more comfort B) even tho it will be expensive i think it'll be worth it! think t in the park and v are all about the music and the crack but wanna try glasto cos its seems there is always something different to do if you dont fancy any of the bands that are on the main stages.

Firstly why did you find it necessary to not only post on both of the V forums but also the Leeds/Reading forum, the Download forum and T in the parks forum. I'm not saying Glastonbury isn't a brilliant festival but there's such thing as going over the top lol. Especially the wording of your post.

In my humble opinion all the other 'dirty festival' would never be a patch on it, so considering they are all around the same price, why oh why would you not choose to come to Glastonbury??

Love Glastonbury and have been before but it is school time so don't take my daughter out, probably will do in a feew years, V festival is out of school term and there's a huge bunch of us, a few years ago our usual crowd decided to go to Glastonbury and the day the tickets were available, only half of them managed to get tikets and the other half found it a nightmare to obtain some, so the group was split.

You cant compare Glastonbury to V, they are totally different experiences. Its like asking why someone likes the Prodigy when they could listen to Newton Faulkner

I went go Glasto last year, loved it and will admit that it was one of the best experiences of my life! But I can understand why people don't want to go.

Firstly a whole week has got to be booked of work which is difficult for some, the advantage of places like V is its on a weekend so no need to book time off if you don't want to.

Secondly everyone of my mates who have come back from G this year have said its just too long after 3 days your absolutley shattered and fed up of all the walking about etc. Then also the fact its so long means you spend more dosh so some people can't afford it with the ticket, travel, beer etc. all added up (hence why i didnt go this year :( )

ive been to both, first v last year and loved, can never imagine not going, just an amazing weekend of drinking and great music. so easy to get from stage to stage, pretty close to where i live etc. glastonbury is a slog and considering if you want a good spot you have to get there early which was tuesday this year its even harder. i wanted my own bed by the friday/saturday, but thats when it starts kicking off really. if i had to choose only one to go to ever again, id pick V every time.
