louiseeeee
Im staying from wednesday until monday morning, How much money do you think I'll need for enough food, drink + alcohol to last me? Ill probs bring some little bits of food and drink, and probs be making trips to tesco
ska_4_life
I find £80 is a nice amount, assuming you dont care about a hoodie or tshirts or anything. And assuming that you only buy 1 meal day and buy the rest cheap tescos. Although i generally live off 2 slices of bread + jam, and a £6 meal a night. If you eat more than me add more to the funds. Also I dont buy drinks in the arena. Really just depends. If your traveling far, I recomend making sure you put your bank card in a secure locker on, or off site (The Oracle has some cheapish lockers), and then can always get more money if needed. Dave The Hedgehog
Yeah I'm struggling to work out how much money to take as well. A lot of the food in the morning and afternoon (if I get hungry) will be cooked at the Camp Hedgehog and then tea will probably be from the arena or somewhere. I have no desire to go to Tescos unless it's for a beer run, and the chances are I won't need one because I'm taking 3 crates of Carling, 1 crate of Guinness, 1 cannister of whiskey and another of Jaegermeister. I'll be taking plenty of food with me too. My missus will want at least some sort of merchandise from the place, and I'll probably have a wander around the shops to see if they sell anything... To be honest, I've got an idea of how much to take but I'm not really going to discuss it on the boards in case some clever tosser decides to try and find my tent or has long arms that stretch neatly into my pockets. The chances are some of us off this board will be meeting up and I think the less we know about how much we're taking, the better. In theory you could take no money and survive off your supplies. Just take everything you need before you go.

stephen07
I find £200 plenty , you can always bring home what you dont spend. Friend always pays me for ticket and stuff on the day, thats my spends sorted. In 2007 4 people payed me for their tickets £600+ in your wallet at leeds for the weekend is not a good idea. rachbon
you can survive on whatever money you take. the least i've spent at a festival is £15 and the most is about £200. i'll take about £200 to leeds, enough to buy some booze from the campsite supermarket, enough to buy some pints and a meal each day in the arena, a t shirt and whatever random crap i buy when i'm steamin. rexclark
All depends on what kind of fest you want to have. I used to take about £10 a day when I was younger but now I like to take a bit more and not worry about how much I spend. I would say at most £50 a day would mean you can get plenty of food and drink and stilll have some left over for whatever you like.
Dropkick Murphy
Drinks in the Arena is the killer. £3-4 a pint and if you're in there 12pm-11pm... soon tots up.
pickitoutlandreau
£80 seems to be the most popular figure, and I'd agree with that. Last year I spent exactly that amount (Tried to live off £50 but had to boost the funds with a trip to the cash machine). I'd say that if you do all your eating and drinking at your tent, and throw in maybe 3-4 pints and a bite to eat in the arena to keep you ticking over until you get back to camp at night, then you should spend no more than £80-£100. rexclark
If you have the cash, take it and do the fest in relative luxury ( buy as much booze as you want in the arena, buy as much food as you want, still have some dosh for random buys and there is alot of great stuff to buy) Or you can do it on the cheap ( take a small ammount of cash, plenty of food and plenty of your own booze. Sneak booze into the main arena, eat chips everyday etc....) Either way you'll have an amazing weekend. FiestaDave
I find £200 covers Weds-Sun with a bit left over for some breakfast on the drive home on Monday. But spend what you can afford, the less money you can take the more you should stock up before the festival.

Lithium05
I usually take somewhere between £100 and £150. I always try to not spend over £100, but usually by the Friday I have to visit the cashpoint to top up my wallet. It dissappears fast, if you start buying firewood, pillows (I tend to buy pillows to save bag space), on site food at £6 a pop (I take snacks and stuff, but when you're drunk/high the expensive stuff looks too tasty!) I'm not a big arena drinker, 3 or 4 a day usually suffices due to the fact I like to get good and tipsy before heading to the arena. Usually sneak in some cheeky cans too Not sure where the bulk of my money ends up going, but I suppose on an average festival first day: £120 - £5 (pillow) £115 - £5 (food) £110 - £10 (firewood) £100 - £15 (round of drinks at the bar) £85 - £5 (food again due to drinking munchies) £80 - £10 (Chair that I always forget to take) £70 - £7 (a couple of lighters) £63 - £4 (the two bottles of water I bought between the car park and campsite £59- Shit where's half my cash gone?! The bands haven't even started yet! To the cashpoint! £
rexclark
I'll be on a coach this year if I'm going, so can;t take much booze. Do they sell crates in the camp site supermarket, and if so how much are they?
joelovesleeds!
In my experience, you spend what you take. I.e you might be able to get by on £100, but if you spend £200 then stupid hats and fairground rides all of a sudden become a necessity. Sparticus
Not sure how you came to that conclusion I've been known to partake in a toke or two. In fact I went a bit mad with spending at Download as a result of this... and a hog roast van placed conveniently on the way from tent to village. £6 for a pork bagguette that's worth every penny, must have had about 6 over the course of the weekend Not much of a smoker, but if I can get some I'll be taking it.... Might even bake some cakes.
stephen07
I'm sure you said somewhere that you really dislike people who smoke, must've been crossed wires lol. Take my advice, the ice creams are the way forward! £2 a pop and damn damn tasty on a hot day!
