Camp site opens at 10am, so...

...just wondering how bad the queues are and stuff, and how early should we set off (coming from Nottingham, so only 1 hour and half away)?

last ter we got there at about 9am. my bro was 3 cars infront of us we parked up and had to cue and he was dropped off and was let straight in and had to wait 45 mins for us to get in.... so if you have a friend that you could drop off and set up your tents and then you drive round and park up you'll get the better camping spots

I don't know if it's any help but I know that the A5 coming from Telford is always clear and you can drive more or less straight up to the gate. So if instead of taking the M6, A5 to Weston you take M6, M54 and don't come off at junction 3 (the Weston Park turn-off which leads on to the A41 and is jammed all the way along) but stay on to Junction 4, turn north and pick up the A5 east, you should get there no trouble I think. The only bit I'm not sure of is how jammed the M54 heading west is but if you can get past the Weston turn off it'll be a breeze from there.

Anyway it's definitely worth a try - as I say, the A5 from Telford is brilliant!

I'm from Nottingham too pal - we set off last year at 5.00, got in the McDonalds at the A38/A5 junction for 5.45, in the queue on the A5 for Weston Park at 6.30 about 2 miles away from the entrance. They let us in at 8.00, had the pick of the whole of the campsite pretty much. We were set up and cracked the first can at 9.30 and had a great lazy day watching others getting stressed putting tents up in the sunshine!

Our previous experience of Friday morning travel started at 7.30, started queuing on the M6 at 9 and didn't get in to the campsite until 1pm!

My ticket says campsite opens at 9am. I'm also travelling from Nottm - near to A50. Last year we set off with two cars as 8.30am. We hit traffic on M6 around an hour later. We got into Weston Park and set up tent at around 12.30. Leaving at 6am this time hoping to be in at 9am.
