Teaching English In China

I have been looking at this site - http://teic.co.uk/ - It seems to be a govt run thing which is linked to the UK by a university professor. It gives you a paid job, accomadation, and reimburses the flight costs to you over the programme. (so it's a proper job rather than one of those gap year things you pay for and realy has minimal costs).

Anyone done this or know if this website is legit?

Cheers.

the domain is registered to a private individual at what looks like a private address in Cardiff. So on that basis, it doesn't appear to be a govt run thing.

However, it doesn't necessarily mean it's a scam - the best bet I reckon would be to try googling that domain, and see if there's comments made on other websites about the quality or not of what it offers.

Stop calling me pogo.

I actualy do have a good standard of English surprisingly. What I write on an internet forum isn't the same as how I'd write elsewhere in more important situations.

I have to wonder why a recent graduate is having to consider moving overseas to find employment....?

Would it - just perhaps - be because there's hundreds of thousands of graduate with useless and pointless degrees from the angle of the jobs market but no jobs for them?

Of course, this has all been caused by the change of govt in May, cos before that every graduate with a useless and pointless degree was guaranteed a decent job.:lol::lol:

That TEIC thing looks more like an employment agency than a government-affiliated programme like EPIK or the JET programme.

Before this university gig came up, I was looking at AbroadChina.org, and quite a few offers came up in really sort after areas like Wuhan or Shenzen.

That's not fair. Isn't Pogo's degree in politics or something like that?

:lol::lol:

Did I mention something about "useless and pointless degrees from the angle of the jobs market"?:lol::lol:

What the world needs is more people with politics degrees. Having the country run by them has been very good for this country.:lol::lol:

Spot on!

And people can remember a few years back I said I'd like to go into teaching. I don't want to go school - university - teaching training - teacher.

I want to work about a bit, see a bit, before I go. Teaching English in China provides a way to have employment in an area I want to get into, whilst also seeing another part of the world.

Until then I'm happy with anything to pay back my bank debt.

It's just my opinion that if I do go into teaching, I think it would be beneficial to do something other than education before I get into it. Whilst doing that I might as well have fun.

I was already found out anyway! Neil adores me too much to get past him!

Except of course it wasn't me that posted first that you're pogo.

But I'd sussed that you were only on what you'd posted, just as whoever it was that posted first to say that you're pogo sussed you as that by what you posted. It was hardly opaque. ;)

No you didn't!

yes I did.

This post:-

Call me crazy guys and I know this idea is wayyy out there and all, but surely a full days work deserves a full days wage? f**k slave labour!

Oh and also, I'm using the same computer and ISP etc etc etc so it should be the same IP?

Not necessarily.

At the point I checked your IP (which was after you'd guessed that I had already) none of the IP(s?) you'd used for posts as TJJ matched what 'pogo' had used.

And being the sad bastard that I am, I've just checked again, and even now none of the IPs match - tho having said that, it's not even matching with your own posts as TJJ, so from that I'm now presuming that the IP matching tools aren't working as they should be in this new version of the software.
