Uncle Liam
Has anyone else noticed that OAFC is all "ME ME ME" with little or no regard for the bigger picture?

oafc0000
I'll bet you aren't talking about graduate entry level jobs. Edited August 10, 2010 by oafc0000
Uncle Liam
My best mate is a fully qualifiued solicitor and his mrs is a legal advisor for immigrants. Met at Durham. Both found it really hard to get jobs in the area and he in particular struggled to get on an LPC. He told me, as did someone else on the same course, that if you didnt have a degree from a trad red brick, then chances are you werent getting on the LPC and you certainly werent getting a training contract after. oafc0000
It's that sort of comment that you continually come up with that tells me everything I need to know. If Phil is happy doing what he's doing, what difference does it make? Not everyone is fixated with either money or status like you appear to be. Hapiness is a much more worthy objective. I'd hoped that your fixation with money and status would have been diminished with the birth of your child, but it appears if anything it's got worse. It sickens me and saddens me in equal measure. llcoolphil
I am pretty sure the big blue chip graduate recruitment programs probably need to go to that level but not totally seeing I was successful on one of them..... but that is very small amount of the jobs available... The rest which I have been involved in operating and observing operated no degree snobbery... The again your many years of driving your van probably gives you a better insight dosent it Edited August 10, 2010 by llcoolphil

oafc0000
ps when you say you were successful on a blue chip graduate recruitment programme, how many people do you actually expect to believe you? Your application form wouldn't have got past the first sift
Uncle Liam
Well, you're happy to talk about Phil. What about me? I agree with pretty much everything he's saying. I'm 27 on Sunday, I've got a Degree (Queens in Belfast), an MA (Manchester) and PGCE (RE) as well a studying for a Masters in Teaching and Learning, and now I'm an A Level Teacher of two subjects as well as being head of department. So how does that effect things?

llcoolphil
At least we have moved on from the bollocks you was spouting about me never holding a degree...
Uncle Liam
Well, i'd quite like you explain how Phil's career effects his opinion in any way. I'd say there's a decent chance Phil earns as much as me anyway, if not more, so it cant be financial. So, if Phil doesnt know what he's talking about because he hasnt used his degree. Well, I clearly have used my degree, (and more directly than most, as I teach the subject I have degree's in) does that make my opinion more valid than his, even though its the same one?
