Early bird yellow camping Thurdsay

This will be my 8th camping year this year, but every year I get there for 12 and see the campsite is already full. Is it true that if you have early bird camper tickets you can pitch on the thurday?

You do get people queueing from about 8, they've opened the gates at 10ish for the last couple fo years.
