she bangs the drums
I don't fancy seeing any of the headliners on the Sunday at Leeds and with a week to go I was thinking of selling my soul to the devil and watching Axl Rose and Friends 'a tribute to Guns n Roses' but then I read this review posted on the Glasto forum of the latest European Festival performance in Sweden which makes me realise I shouldn't go and watch them as they are equivalent to watching Ian Brown play Stone Roses songs. http://www.flickr.co...N06/4801766160/ http://www.flickr.co...N06/4801766784/ I saw Slash at Glastonbury which was pretty good but he was absolutely amazing at his solo shows and it really showed me that without him (and Duff) Guns n Roses will always be a shadow of the band they once were. I don't think I could stomach Marina and the Diamonds and Alkaline Trio are not by thing, maybe i should just pack up and go home Anyone else got this problem and is thinking of watching the first few songs of Axl and Friends? rexclark
I wouldn't give up on Axl and Co. just on the back of one bad review. Bands get bad reviews all the time. Yeah, potentially they could be terrible but they could also be amazing. If all else fails go see LCD Soundsystem, they're fantastic live. mrtourette
I have no real interest in any of the headliners that night but I'll be watching Guns & Roses, half out of curiosity and half because they'll be visible from the bar. Bradders
Go see LCD Soundsystem. They're fantastic live and even if you're not a big fan they'll still be good for a dance! I am a huge fan though and I think they'll put on one of the sets of the weekend.
Inaudible-Whisper
LCD Soundsystem are fantastic live, and out of all of these they should easily be the easiest to enjoy if you're not a fan. Instantly catchy, infectious and danceable.

Vieuphoria
People who call Guns N' Roses a tribute band are either... A) People who have no idea what they're talking about. B.) Are just following the crowd. C) Just didn't like the band to begin with. It's f**king old. get over it. Go and see them, they'll blow you the f**k away. loscfestivals
If Axl is on form then they will be superb. If he decides to have one of his off days, turns up late, has little hissy fits (like Download 4 years ago) then they won't be so great. These are the first two shows for a few weeks so hopefully they will be up for it. Hope they turn up on time anyway as I'll be going home Sunday night. Too old now for the Sunday night muppetness

Dan R
I'm in the same situation as the OP Except GNR are my last choice Used to be a big fan until I saw them in 06 and basically killed my respect for them, Axl is just the most unprofessional musician I've ever seen and a total c**t Although by the time he turns up there's not gonna be anyone else on So I'm gonna see LCD, they're meant to be great live and wouldn't mind closing the weekend with a big dance
Smally
I wish Ash was playing on the Sunday of Leeds. They would be a fantastic closer.

riizch
I have the opposit problem...I want to see all the Sunday headliners! Calling GnR a tribute band is pretty dumb though. Tons of bands change their lineup and don't get the abuse that guns get. I saw the new GnR in Newcastle a few years back and they were incredible, even though axl was 2 hours late and stormed off without an encore. Ok, it's not quite the same as having slash and duff, but the guys they have in their place are more than up to the task of filling their shoes in terms of technical ability, and when you're lost in the moment, you barely even think about it. All you need to hear is axl's trademark squawk to know it's Guns N' Roses. Don't write them off just because all the cOol KiDz are doing it. kev1664
Your talking about Leeds right? I would almost garauntee that they will be late, being it the second of the performances and in the middle of nowhere, I think Festival Republic have predicted this thats why they are at Leeds sunday and not reading. I would try and catch something else if your not a fan LCD soundsystem are good live. Also at Leeds there is a transgressive records stage in the alternative tent where there are a few bands playing after hours, Everything Everything,Slow Club,Egyptian Hip Hop,Chew Lips,Gaggle DJs. So if there late you won't have to watch em and can watch other thing....

Role Model
Either way Gun's will be the talking point of the festival, good or utter shite. Although if I hadn't already seen LCD Soundsystem in a smaller venue once this year, I'd probably be leaning towards seeing them, as I know I'll get a great show.
