Sunday night

Hi all

We are thinking of leaving on sunday night when everything has finished rather than monday morning, due to my mate having to be in work. Has anyone any idea what the traffic will be like getting out? I am not the best traveller especially after a day on the lash so don't want to be sat in the car for hours. Cheers in advance.

I left from Chelmo Sunday night last year, probably left half hour before the gigs ended and even then it was quite busy, probably took 5-10 minutes to get out the car park and traffic was busy (not slow, just lots of cars) up until the motorway, then was fine.

Cheers for the replies. Weston Park we will be leaving from, gonna pack stuff away sunday morning so once music finishes straight back to the car.

Sorry but Weston Park can atrocious to leave on Sunday night! I don't think it ever took us less than a couple of hours to get out and once it was more like 4 which is why we no longer even try! Logically, some people must be lucky and out quickly but they seem to open so few gates - once we parked really close to an exit and thought "huh we're gonna be out so quickly" and then they didn't open that exit but had to drive half way round the park to get out. Problem is they seem to stop one section completely and don't let anyone out at all and if you're there, you're buggered!

Agree Weston can be a nightmare to get out off - but it did seem slightly better last year when they introduced a one way system round the site and I got out after just a 30 minute wait, one year I was ther till nearly 4am having got back to the car at midnight!

If you really want to get out quick on Sunday you probably have to miss the last half hour of the headline act. I'm not sure if it would work but you could also try going back to the car early on Sunday and moving it much nearer the exit - you would have a long walk but might be first in line to get out when the traffic is allowed out

Thanks all, we are hoping to park in the VIP area like we did last year as we have guest tickets. We weren't supposed to but they allowed us, hopefully they will be as friendly this year. I doubt my mates will be up for missing the last half hour of the headline act but we will try and get away asap. I'm not driving so i will be asleep anyway!

The year we were stuck 4 hours was also the year my friend offered to miss the end of the headliners and she left half an hour early. When we left at the end to find her, it was only to find she'd only moved 10 yards! So don't miss the end!

We left Weston Park on the Sunday night last year, expected it to take hours, so was very surprised when we drove out no bother. However, we left just before the Killers finished, so probably missed the crowds. Perhaps missing the end of the headline act is the price to pay to leave easily. We were in the car park next to the gold/silver camping areas.
