I see rock giants the Lostprophets, Marina and The Diamonds and the Foals have been forced to step in and have their say...

When did festivals/music become so tame?

Fair enough about the licence, but really its to be expected with GNR who're a bit old school in these matters. Heaven forbid people would consider staying up past their bed time.

i have a mate who's always late so we tell him we are going to the pub at 7 when we are really meeting at 7.30. cant the organisers have done the same with axl- 'axl mate,we've got a 10.30 curfew.we need you on stage by 8.30 at the latest'. axl turns up fabulously late at 9.30,plays over the curfew until 11.30,everyones a winner,ha ha.

I really don't understand why people are standing up for Axl here. No act, regardless of anything else to do with Slash etc in this instance, is bigger than the festival, and that seemed ot be the attitude that guns took. They can't expect the fans to go along with having to stand around and wait for an hour just because they're Guns N Roses. I know its not a new thing for them but that doesn't make it any better. If you want to stick it to the 'bureaucrats' then come out on time, play your full 2 hour alloted set, then carry on for a bit more anyway.

From what Ive seen on the forum, the morons were people who thought that Axl Rose was a self-obsessed cock who didn't care about the fans and wasn't going to show up on time. Axl could have proven them wrong.

People seem to think this is part of the Guns n Roses experience, the boos suggest a new type of experience might win them more fans.

Nope.

The morons were....

Anyone who booed before half 9.

Anyone who booed and 9:45.... bands have been later than 15 mins.

Anyhone who chanted for Slash.

Those who chated "your not singing anymore" after they put on an amazing set and got cut off.

Those people who turned up only to be negative.

Well I'm impressed he turned up at Leeds and only half an hour late.

As for the set, amazing! Really enjoyed it. I thought the constant guitar solos were a bit much just so Axl could change his hat but he's been doing these things since the early 90s so it's hardly surprising.

The crowd were great around where we were standing but there was always gonna be a few dicks in the crowd, it's Leeds for f**k sake!

Like it or not people will be talking about this set for years to come, whether it be for the good or the bad.

What I don't get is how menial people seem to think the license is

People seem to think that the festival has a choice when the bands have to stop

It's not up to the festival, it's up to the council, who also have the final say if the festival is allowed to happen

And why the f**k do people say that it's to be expected so they should just allow it?

Would you let an untrained dog crap in your house just because you expect it to?

Why is it rock n' roll if you know you know you're gonna have to stand around for ages doing nothing

People get excited leading up to the show and festival, why would that last hour or so be anything other than frustrating

Sorry, but it pisses me off how big Axl's ego is, especially after seeing Slash at Download

He turned up and played a stormer of a set with no pretences

Far outshone Axl's show

caught the last 20 mins of their set at reading, sounded amazing and very impressive, but they have no case to complain about being cut, fools

Although I did laugh alot, when the slash lookalike guitarist on stage did an awesome solo and then after finishing got no reaction at all, not even a cough. was soo funny.

This band should not have been booked. I glad I went to see Sick of it all and Alkaline Trio.

See I much preferred Slash at Download. I was really impressed by Myles Kennedy as well.

Also Slash wasn't pretending to be Guns N' Roses (not saying that GnR now aren't the real thing) but did his own show playing a collection of songs he's written, whether it be with GnR, Velvet Revolver or on his own.

For me, it was always about Izzy. If you look at the albums that they made with Izzy, and look at his solo output, it's clear where the real brains of the outfit were. Slash had a great guitar sound, Axl has a classic rock voice, but the soul of the band was always Izzy.

Honestly I don not understand how people can defend "The Axl Show". It was f**king appalling, I used to be a huge huge fan but honestly watching him on Sunday night at Leeds was just, well, embarrassing. He has become a parody of himself, a weird old man who shuffles around the stage with a voice gone to shit, honestly I think Bob Dylan's voice is probably better than Axl's was on Sunday. And as for showmanship, I don't understand what exactly he did on stage that made him a showman? Turning up half our late and being a dick? nope. Shuffling round like a decrepit old hermit? nope. Changing his costume every 5 minutes? nope. Having a voice akin to a Labrador having it's testicles removed? nope.

And my god I was never much of a Slash fanboy but hearing the f**king horrible way the November Rain solo was butchered caused me serious emotional distress.
