Haha, On the Sunday night me and about 6 mates were walking through yellow at Reading and my mate kicked a tent bag that was near the bins at me and i caught it in mid-air then next thing i know two security guards came running up to us and took me and my mate by the arm and they couldn't speak any english all they could do was scream "I SAW YOU!" and took us to the eviction tent and then when we got their some guy who could speak english asked what we had done so we told him and he just gave us a lecture about not to damage peoples propery and just told us to f**k off and let us back in, pretty lucky really.

Whoa, I feel lucky to have not got on the wrong side of security now! Me and my mate didn't have a lift home til gone 7 so we just hung around drinking on the monday, just moving a bit at a time when we got moved on by security. We ended up being put in a van and driven off site at 4.30pm, but even those security were friendly to us! their words to us: "you do know you are the last ones here right?" :D

On the Subject of lanterns, i think perhaps they should be banned, i love them, but like after glastonbury there were 100's of them litterd around the fields near by.

as for burning tents, at reading i doubt they would have due to the dampness, at glastonbury was possible as it was soo dry. ethir way i rember watching one at glasto that caught alight mid air and started heading towards the tent and it was a bit worrying, lucky the material burnt out and it just fell, but would of scared the f**k out of me if it was above my tent.

the security were annoying, they were overwelmed were the big fires were happening, i.e purple (reading) yet seemed to picked on the small fires. to be hoesnt it was f**king cold and a small fire was bloody nessisary.

it was good security were tough but to be honest they shouldn't be evicting people on small issiuses, its still a bloody festival!

honestly it was a joke. i was almost kicked out for using a garden CANDLE as light around the campsite as on sunday without the fires it was pretty dark (i am aware i could of used a torch but batteries had run out). We were told it was a health and safety risk to whish i replied so is having so many people and tents without proper lighting to see, i was then told that we should be in bed (it was 130 in the morning). I laughed at this and said don't be silly i paid to have a good time and i thought thet it was stupid to be so strict. They then threatened to kick me out for having an opinion. I understand that because of the kiddies that want riots they are making it safer for everyone but there is a thin line between genius and insanity and they were not on the side of genius. I'm really not suprised that security get so much abuse as from my experiences they are a bunch of jobsworths who don't have any ability to think for themselves if they did they would make their lives alot easier, after all if you tar all of the festival goers with the same brush (drunken kids who want to riot) then i will tar security with the same brush (thick tw***)

i was working as a campsite assistant in conjuncyion with security at leeds on red camp sunday night and didn't think we were being too strict.

we were putting out fires that were too big or if people were putting plastic/lighters/gas canisters on them.

i personally was more lenient with fires that were abit bigger than recommended size (1 pace and below knee height) if the people camping there looked like they had it under control and weren't going to cause trouble. (it was a very cold night!) however some people did take the piss and made them bigger so we were forced to put them out

if you catch the fires while they're small then they're less likely to get big and dangerous and people feel less threatened.

i felt happy knowing that people on the camp would feel safer there and am proud of my team for doing such a good job!

as a person who camped in orange last year to go back to their tent at 6am to find it burnt down, this can only be a good thing!

saying that, i did get a couple of guys complaining to me that it wasn't a good night cos there were no riots! unbelievable!

You did a brilliant job as far as security was concerned I for 1 appreciated it and i know many like minded people did also. I really can not believe people are moaning after complaining about how bad the riots have been in previous years. As far as the person who got questioned about jumping into the tent, you proved it was your tent and that was the end of it right?why are you so bothered?surely you should be happy that security were trying to keep your tents in one piece and you and your m8s safe!!!!

the security in our little bit were ok...

on the last night we had about 30 tiny tea lights and lit them under our gazebo in an effort to warm up.

the fire dude came over but we had already got to know him quite well, and he said we could keep them so long as we made a donkey shape with them :D

The security I encountered were fine. 2 security guards came and sat round our fire on the Saturday night and had a beer with us. We discussed how in past years the security have been heavy handed and 'jobsworths', and the bloke just said "treat people with respect and you'll get respect back".

There are, however, ex-bouncer types who are just intent on being knob-heads - luckily I didnt come across any this year.

First of all I think a big thanks should be given to the event staff in the main arena. During Blink I was literally watching people's lives being saved by the security as huge surges were toppling people right at the front.

I think it's a big shame that fires are banned on Sunday night, but that's the fault of the idiots in the past. In terms of the campsite this year I thought the security did a good job controlling the fire situation. I think the only gripe I had with security was that they seemed so focussed on the fire, that they weren't putting much efforts in to trying to curb rowdy behaviour generally. We had friends in yellow who had their tents trashed by drunken idiots. On sunday night somesort of golf buggy went passed us mobbed with lads clambering all over it, bellowing at the top of their voices. I remember waking up on saturday night at about 3 or 4am by an argument behind my tent. Two lads were giving the group behind us grief for reasons unbeknown to me, it was verging on bullying. That was followed at about 5am by a group who stopped near my tent and were whining about deciding how to get warm, should they light a fire, or should they find their mates first? This decended into a shouting match. How about f*** off back to your tents and get some sleep? I personally think there should be a curfew after 2 or 3am. After coming back from the main arena mid-afternoon on Friday I was incredibly surprised to see how many people were still at the campsite just waking up. What a waste of money!
