Paul ™
There is plenty pubs in the Merchant City, just not sure of any cheap ones. Others spring to mind are Blackfriars (who do real ales for those who partake) and O'Neills. I am out in Glasgow on Saturday, might take a wander round a few
rexclark
I'm happy with Maggie Mays as I do quite enjoy Red Stripe. As for pubs nearbye, I don't really drink up that end of town, maybe Bairds bar?
minute5072
Home? It's well cheap during the week, not too sure about weekend prices but doubt it goes up that much. Have pretty decent food that's always on special (normaly two for one or drink and burger deals). It has loads of seating areas, even an upstairs as well. I'm sure you can book seating too. And it's just accross the road from the big fancy indoor place with the pubs and resturuants, so it's close to the Tron. The bars called Home btw I'm sure. Maybe House. I've been in it a few times anyway and it's always been realy nice. I think they have a band playing at weekend nights too. Like a covers band type thing. minute5072
Naw it's fine inside.. but just been told to avoid it on Celtic home game days.. which it is one.. so sod that Home could be a good bet, but no screens for footy scores coming in? coma girl
Maggie Mays sounds good to me, only been once or twice but it seems decent enough. I love the Duck but it'll be nice to have a change. O'Neils before hand might be good
rachbon
is o'neills one of those cheap pubs? i vote for that if it is.
coma girl
Its not super cheap, but it does food, just the first place that came to mind in that area. I'm struggling to think of anywhere especially cheap round there. Don't think theres any Weatherspoons type places nearby is there? I'm not picky and would be happy to head to a weatherspoons etc in town to begin with and then move on to maggie mays.
rachbon
i'll go anywhere as long as it's cheap and we'll be able to get seats.

Pogues Mcgogues
Turns out my start date at new job won't be until the 18th October now. I'll get my last brew payment (£103) the Thursday before and that will have to last me for 5 weeks. Might not be able to make it now. Hopefully find a way. Kowalski
I am in Glasgow all week next week, staying very centrally (not far from Sauchiehall Street). If anyone fancies a pint, give us a shout. I would expect I'd be back in the city centre at around 6pm each night. I'm really busy with work, but slightly less busy on the Wednesday morning so Tuesday evening would suit me better. Will easily amuse myself if nobody is up for a pint. Might go to the Dreadzone gig on Thursday.
ampersand
regarding finances as pogo touched on, why is this thing a night out in a city? why not arrange some form of camping trip where it would be cheap as shit and more people likely to come (least i would be anyway) though obviously mid-late september, not november. Pogues Mcgogues
there's still festivals during september, we always have the meet in november cause it breaks up the time between the end of festival season and christmas and gives plenty time after festival season for people to have a bit of money saved and get holidays sorted from work. nights out in glasgow are fairly cheap, we usually go to a cheap pub then get free entry to a club that has a few drink promos, and paul always lets a few people crash at his if they live a bit far away from glasgow. there's also cheap hotels and the euro hostel. why don't you stop moaning about the meets not being suitable for you and organise one yourself? rachbon
Yeah I'd say Glasgow is sooo cheap for a night out. Camping could even end up costing the same as a night out in town if you include transport n stuff.

Pogues Mcgogues
I'll come and meet you on Tuesday Kowalski, but I won't be out late cause I'll either have work the next day (my start date will be confirmed tomorrow) or I'll be counting my brew money in order to save up for the 5 week exodus of no money and won't be able to afford to stay out too late. Paul ™
Ok what if we just go to Crystal Palace (Weatherspoons) then and its not a far walk along Argyle St to Maggie Mays? Cheap and does half decent food. As for the camping trip, Rachel has it spot on. Kowalski, would need to be the Tuesday if I can make it, will see how this weekend pans out. Kowalski
Wetherspoons on Sauchiehall Street Tuesday then? Can't mind the name of it. I would say 6pm but I can't guarantee I'll be there for 6 but hopefully not long after.
