What did you want to be when you grow up...

My little teenage sister is gonna be off to France to work on set for the new Martin Scorsese film and her attitude to it is "whatever" and response was "f**k I want to do it!". Which has got me thinking about what I wanted to be when I grew up, which was a fireman and I actually would of become one a few years ago if it wasn't for one my eyes of being messed up but hey-ho got a decent paying job now.

So what did everyone else want to be before they became an adult?

Aged 4 I walked through the hallowed doors of the cathedral of nature that is the Natural History Museum in South Kensington, London. I said to my mum and dad, one day I will work here.

I had some idea and plan to be employed there by the age of 40 and went to uni and studied Archaeology with the aim of getting into museum work. I got into museum education training in 03 after answering an ad that said 'Are you unemployed? Do you like history and archaeology?' Answers: yes to both. A year later I was working in an Archaeology museum in Lincoln, by October 2006 I quit the Lincoln museum job for an 'as and when' bank staff position in the Learning Department at the NHM.

Aged 28, I walked back through the hallowed doors of the NHM as an employee. Got paid to chat shit about dinosaurs and other cool things from nature and science with kids.

Second dream job I had was to work at the Australian Museum in Sydney. Left NHM job in March 08 to go and do the same job I was doing in London in Sydney instead. Got paid twice as much as London to identify Aussie fauna and teach kids not be scared of all the insects and other bitey creatures, myself included!) Natch!

Kinda have 'retired' from this area of work now having achieved my childhood dream jobs and so at now 32 I am looking to gain successful employment within events and festivals (the ADULT dream job!) :D

I like this topic, my sis had this as the theme to her fancy dress 18th! There was everything and anything at the party that night! I was dressed like a princess, she was Tinkerbell, however there were also nurses, pilots, mechanics and MC Hammer there!

When i was little i wanted to be a vet (then i realised blood makes me squeamish), then a kids tv presenter (what can i say, i like drama, working with kids and getting involved!) and then a teacher (kinda diverted from that for the time being) however i currently work in a children's indoor play and party centre (which is ok apart from the fact they keep cutting hours!)
