How do you deal with being in a new relationship

There's a 101 things I can say about that which I wont but I what will say is that maybe the amount of limited time they have together is so valued by them they will make the most of it as opposed to a tradional relationship where things are speeped up and will conclude either way more naturally.

Glastofun- I think you should probably tell him you're having a little worry about things but without seeming like you're a mental stalker. He will probably say "no it'll be fine don't worry" at which point you should feel better for getting it out (I can't keep stuff in for more than about 30 mins) and can stop over thinking it, and then you will just have to believe him and see what happens because there's nothing you can do.

Long distance. I have had a long distance relationship which didn't end because of that but at the same time was exhausting from the travelling and annoying with the planning and lack of spontinaity.

My current relationship started when we lived in different cities an hour's drive apart, then an hour and a half train journey apart. It didn't really feel long distance though as we spent weekends together and worked in the week so probably would have only seen each other perhaps one week night anyway. Now we live in the same city but we still live 45 minutes apart so I would agree with whatshisface that it's not that much different especially at the start. It's nicer now we can decide to do something on a week night on the spur of the moment, don't have to think about transport issues and one of us doesn't have to always leave on a sundayn afternoon. I think shorter long distances are no problems and longer ones it's mostly the tiredness rather than the trust that's a problem.

I don't see how that is normal. Are you a convicted sex pest or been treated for sex addiction in the past? Are you unable to speak to a woman without trying to have sex with her?Are you not permitted to have a conversation or friendship with the opposite sex?

I cannot stand jealously in any shape or form and will not be in a relationship with someone who shows it due to their underlying self esteem issues and irrational thought process.

I can accept a small element of it in the start but I explain that if I'm in a relationship then I'm commited to her and love her with all my heart,I have never cheated and never would as I value trust over everything. If she continues to show jealously then I'm not going to stay and have to constantly defend myself just because I speak to a member of the opposite sex or because I go out with friends one night. Is my love not good enough? Are you that feeble you need constant reassuring?

I've walked away twice due to jealously issues from women and been cheated on three times all of which was tough yet I will continue to trust and believe my future girlfriends without question as without doing so in my opinion is not giving them all of your heart and not being true to the relationship.

I wouldnt actively choose to have one but if someone moved away or I met someone on a work placement then i would consider it.

I couldn't imagine meeting someone on the internet and starting a relationship long distant.Somehow that seems to me like you're in love with the idea of being in a relationship rather than the person. Is that wrong?

Sometimes you just can't help who you fall for! I'd been seperated from my ex husband just a couple of weeks when I saw a message on a different message board I use from a guy saying his Dad has just had a heart attack. I thought he was a bit of a prick (the guy on the message board - not his dad!) but being a nurse, I felt really concerned for him and messaged him my number incase he had any questions he hadn't asked at the hosptial

.... we've been together 8 years and married for 2! We met a week after our first telephone call and managed 3 years long distance (well, 100 miles) before he moved up here, with both of us generally working crappy shifts and only me who drives - add to that my (now 15 year old) son whos feelings I had to be particularly careful of sparing - and it was bloody hard sometimes when it could be a month before we'd see each other again BUT we made it work!

Strangely enough, my ex husband was a long distance relationship (a holiday romance that lasted 13 years!) and he is now married to a lovely lady he met on t'internet!
