Ex-Nazi, Kiddie Fiddling Apologist's Tour of Britain

To be honest the ex-Hitler youth Nazi branding is a bit close to the wire - These boards are just a way for people to troll and argue with eachother these days. The title of the thread has pissed me off and has probably been made just to get a bite from a few people.

Job well done I guess

:golfclap:

Obviously this has gotten out of hand, he's not a Nazi, you can't hold it against somebody who found as a child it was difficult to opt out of the brainwashing put forward by a tyranical dictatorship. Besides, we all knwo that as soon as you go down the 'you're a Nazi' route, you've lost the argument.

Just as well not one person in this thread has gone down the "you're a Nazi" route then.

If his past is not something that can be held against him then why did the Vatican try and cover it up?

I think it's ridiculous to call him a Nazi to be honest. He was in the Hitler youth, for crying out loud. My Grandad was in the Kriegsmarine, on a boat called the Sharnhorst and he was as much a Nazi as Tony Benn is.

It also detracts from some of the other attrocities that the Catholic Church are complicit in, to be honest, and cheapens the argument.

Although as thread title, designed to grab one's attention it certainly achieves that.

Totally against the popes visit being funded by the tax payer. Very happy to be hearing some of the cracking religious debate going on in the media etc although some of has been a bit in the gutters . Also very happy to see many Catholics coming out against the idea that they all hate gay people. Even though Stifi was calling me all manner of names when I suggested that many Christians take no issue with gay people.

how many catholics do you know that have sex before marriage? how many catholics do you know that use condoms? how many catholics do you know that have had or supported or would support an abortion? etc

surely catholocism is irrelevant now? are these differences not the things that basically makes them different from protestants?

But you can hold it against somebody who finds children and makes it difficult for them to opt out of the brainwashing put forwards by a tyranical dictatorship.

That's what the pope does, and I hold it against him. :)

I might of gone to Hyde Park on Sat to see the old bugger and then go to Oxford Street as soon as I got bored but I've got Ozzfest instead :)

But what's the point of him coming over, he waves, people gawk then buy a cheap Mary statue (speaking of which why do some Catholics pry to Mary and not Jesus/God) and all in all achieves nothing. Much rather have him get in debate with a crowd or something.

No the difference between protestantism and Catholocism is a bit more complicated than that and the above are just views that the protestant church used to have anyway, and some still do.

Catholics believe in the eucharist and that when taking the bread and wine it transforms into the actual blood and body of christ.

Protestants believe that this is just a gesture of worship. and not all protestant churches perform the ritual at all.

Catholics love their icons and like to buy their way into heaven with prayers, and donations

Protestants believe that their seat in heaven is pre-destined

i love how this thread is a discussion on the pope and den somehow sees this as an opportunity to try and justify his homophobia. idiot

well i don't know why the abuse cover upper was invited here anyway. if they're selling tickets, then they should be using that money to fund the event. i don't know the percentage of catholics in britain but are they funding visits for people high up in any other religion? i'm not happy with tax payers money being used to pay for a visit by a man who's views will be disagreed with by so many people.

some of the views of the catholic church are dangerous, and then there's the f**king child abuse.. i don't think we should be welcoming the pope.
