Ahh a subject close to my heart. I have ridiculously ordinary parents but me and my sisters are called Nyika, Luiza and Saskia (obviously I am Nyika). I'm named after a plateau in Malawi, Luiza is named after a town in the Congo (and also my mum's great aunt who died when she was 8, except she was a Louisa) and Saskia is a dutch-afrikaans name.

We ended up with these names as my dad's side has an African connection and my Dad grew up in South Africa. I've never been teased for my name, if anything it's a talking point! Only thing that gets a little annoying is the whole people saying it/spelling it part, I get everything from Nicky to Nikita to Nickia, when actually it's Nigh-e-ka.

Going on my experience, I don't think my kids will have too much problem with being little Indigo, Reuben and Cora...

On the point of the things with names on, I have a leather bracelet, a person made up of pebbles holding a sign, a mug and a couple of other bits all with my name on, custom done and so much nicer than those tacky mugs and rulers you get in gift shops!

What is the phrase for when you have a surname that is also a first name as in James Patrick?

I`ve been wondering if Jamie Oliver is sneaking into the nursery and feeding young Buddy Bear as Peter Griffin infamously fed Stewie...a classic image.
