Bands with female lead singers suck

I've seen very few people ever get a crowd going more than Alice Glass of crystal castles. She is absolutely electric.

Personal opinion surely; they've played to packed out crowds all summer. Probably not at Reading due to them clashing with the mighty Libs but at other festivals they have for sure.

I think The Gossip are atrocious and wouldn't be half as big if Beth Ditto was a plain skinny girl. That's just my opinion though.

Yeh, obviously just my opinion. Music is always subjective.

Although since we're sort of on that subject, I doubt CC would be anywhere near as big if Alice Glass wasn't hot and weird.

Gossip are fine, I liked 'Movement' a lot when it came out and 'Standing in the way of control' was very commercially successful despite being weaker imho. Beth Ditto has a good voice and it'd probably be better if she wasn't so big. I think her size has gotten the band attention but has also lead to her being dismissed by many.

When was the last time anyone heard of a male fronted act being more/less successful because of the physique of the frontman? There's a double standard at play somewhere.

You can't discredit how a band become popular. You'd be at it all day picking out reasons why bands became popular.

Examples would be "Pendulum wouldn't be shit without The Prodigy releasing their remix on their best of and as a single".... the statement is (to some at least) very very true.... but like it matters, they are still big. No matter how shite they are.

The Gosssip have a fanbase but to the casual music fan they are a one hit wonder and a large percentage of those people will only know the song form Skins.

But i wouldn't say it was only Skins that got them big. The song was all over the radio, all over every music channel, and was played at every festival.... Plus Beth Ditto had major newpaper coverage because (heaven forbid) she is comfortable with her size. a lot of factors made them big for a while. In Beth Ditto's case it was mostly pies, ice cream and a lack of exercise.

Well actually the album with "standing in the way..." was lower in the charts than the most recent album. Got a lot higher in the top 10. Which one would assume would be the reason for their placement.

They weren't the worst. The weakest maybe... but the worst i very much doubt.

I would say the only ones close are The Music and Embrace but at least they're popular. Sory but it's all down to personal opinion and I think that Glasvegas would've been a better headliner, even though I don't rate them much either.
