I'm in need of a list of what genres of music some particular festivals offer. To keep things simple, I only want major genres and not sub-genres. Can you help?

These are the festivals:

All Tomorrow's Parties

Beautiful Days

Bestival

Camp Bestival

Download

Endorse It In Dorset

Glastonbury Festival

Global Gathering

GuilFest

Isle of Wight Festival

Larmer Tree Festival

Latitude

Lovebox

Reading/Leeds Festival

Rock Ness

Sonisphere

Summer Sundae Weekender

T in the Park

The Big Chill

The Great Escape

The Green Man Festival

The Wickerman Festival

V Festival

WOMAD

Wychwood Festival

Just off the top of my head and for this years line ups...

Punk - Cancer Bats, Zebrahead, Rolo Tomassi, (a part of the career of...) Suicidal Tendencies, A Day to Remember, Sick of it All, Army of Freshmen,

There will ofcourse be much much more over the two. Just ones that came to my mind.

And while I agree with your old man view of what 'real punk' is to a certain degree (although I prefer the 90's Fat Wreck/Epitaph/Asian Man/Kung Fu/No Idea stuff more myself bar the Ramones) they are widely considered 'punk' in modern day 'punk' definitions and a quick swatch through some bio's of any of these bands or descriptions will tell you that.

Alternative - I think that's a bit self explanatory. Nothing's realy 'alternative' is it? But 'alternative' or 'alternative rock' is a widely used phrase to describe anything heavier than Snow Patrol.

Reading/Leeds: Rock/Indie/Pop

WOMAD (being the other of these festivals I've attended) is more difficult. To just call it 'world music', as would be my first instinct, or something similar would belittle the music on show I feel. Overthinking it maybe, but maybe Folk/Traditional would be a reasonable starting point.

Larmer Tree would be classed as World music I suppose, as would Wychwood.

But as WOMAD would be classed as the World Music Festival... LT and Wywood do have much wider and diverse fayre on offer.

So, difficult to put a very accurate handle on those two.

Hmm, I tried to think of a few genres but it turns out I havent got a clue what these all are so my meagre offering is the obvious...

Global Gathering - electronic dance and DJs

Actually Reading isn't a rock festival mar mar mar mar mar :lol: If it was then it would be called that wouldn't it? No such thing as "indie" mar mar mar. And while we're at it caffeine and paracetamol are drugs too so no-one can have an opinion unless they're going to be very pedantic about every sentence. Something about oil ;):rolleyes:

But Neil, why?

I've spent a fair bit of time over the past few weeks revamping efestivals radio, with some success too - the all-time listener peak is now 64 listeners, and it would surely have been greater if the radio server wasn't set with a 64 listener limit (which I'll increase if it happens again).

Anyway ... there's new schedules and new shows (mostly festival based, tho there's also now a daily "new music show", which plays new stuff I have in the efests music library [so not just 'new music']), with each show now updating the server-displayed info for what the show actually is. Coming soon-ish will also be voice idents for each show.

Along with the above, it's possible to set the genres for any show. Because what I might consider the genres to be might be different to what others consider them to be, I thought I'd ask. :)

64 for the autobot or for your reggae show?

an auto-show. If I'm remembering correctly, it was for the Friday night Jazzworld/West Holts show.

Am I still scheduled for every Thursday evening?

Nope, but if you like to do some more shows, just shout.

I can even provide you with some decent software to do it via, where you'll be able to easily do voice bits if you wish. :)
