Halal being served secretly throughout Britain

Now I think this is a complete disgrace, I cant get over how angry I am about this.

Before I start, I'm an atheist. Just putting that out there.

I am completely against Halal meat for the sake of animal rights. I think it completely illegal and barbaric, but once again because its in the name of "religion" the scum get away with it. How is that right? It's crazy enough if it happens in Pakistan, but for it to be taking over the UK, with our animal rights laws, is horrific. People were getting uppity about a cat being put in a bin, but noone bats an eyelid about animals being left to bleed to death in agony, because its "religious law". f**k that. Its not like its a quick death!

If I know something is halal meat I will avoid it 100% I dont care what the situation is, I will NEVER knowingly eat halal meat. I cant believe that in this "Christian" country so few people seem to care that, firstly, we're being served meat to satisfy muslims regardless of how everyone else feels about it; but secondly we're slaughtering animals in the most inhumane way possible.

What's everyone elses opinon about this?

What difference does Halal meat have from most other meat? Battery farms, cramped conditions, force fed etc...

Do you ask how the animal was killed every time you buy meat from a retailer? If not, I don't see how you can be so angry about it?

I know subway sells halal meat. And when i worked in a chippy, i noticed on the packaging to the kebabs they bought had 'halal' written on them..I said to the boss ohh thats strange buying halal kebabs why you doing that for?! and they didn't realise what they were buying..

Whilst Id agree it's right to object to halal meat, if you find it outrageous there are many, many more animal husbandary issues in this country than just this. Animal rights my arse - you can hardly buy any processed food that contains egg without buying battery eggs

I don't have a problem eating it, but i can understand why other people would. I suppose its to make money because they are allowing the customers who only eat halal meat to eat there too, as well as people me, who don't really know what they're eating.

We give the animals their life so we can eat them, and then we kill the animals to eat them. In my opinion, how this is done is a fairly insignificant issue. The moral decision is made in whether you eat meat or you don't.

No you tit. In "they" I mean western butchers in abattoirs. I was making the point that the practice of slaughtering is no different between halal and the meat most of us eat

If we're talking about real islamic laws of slaughtering, then no, they're not the same.

I see absolutely no distinction between halal and other methods of preparing animals for food - both use stunning techniques that sometimes fail, both drain the blood from the animal while unconscious. One is no less "barbaric" than the other.

I'd also question the use of the word "secretly" given that there doesn't seem to have been anything secret about it - most people couldn't give a shit where their burger came from and to claim anything else seems pretty hypocritical.
