I think they're trying to demonstrate the impact on the post-apocalyptic life on the characters. Like Maggie said something like "I can't do this again/anymore" when she was reunited with Glen at the end. When Darryl hugged Carol at the end was the closest I've coming to feeling something for the characters in months!

Though the Carol being weak thing was clearly an act throughout, it was the frayed around the edges part of her that got them caught in the first place

it was okay. not the best episode by a long stretch but far better than your usual mid-season filler this show is so accustomed to

I really really dont give a shit about these characters.

When Carol was going a bit odd I could not make out if she was for real; if it was a ploy; or if it was just shit acting. Either way in the end I could not have cared less

Abrahams troubled thoughts? Whatever. I could not have given less of a shit.

I really do find myself watching out of a sense of duty rather than really wanting to and thinking "God I cant wait for the next episode". I cant remember the last time I was in suspense for a week waiting for its return.

Admittedly I "know" they're not going to die cos a friend of mine tells me what happens in the comics. Regardless, it's far less tense than it was and like you said you find yourself caring less and less about them.

The dialogue has been pretty poor in the last few episodes, with characters crowbarred into feeling things just so it'll add drama, like some shitty soap opera.

And they're obviously streeeeetching this season out till Negan arrives.

Not "care" as such but as I'd picked up from here about Carl losing his eye, the whole dramatic impact of it was gone, so it's worth being cautious!

Any major plot impacts are not mentioned in here prior to the episode airing, Im a massive comic fan over the show and im completely up to date with both but whenever people ask me in reference to something in the comic I just say wait and see or read the comics yourself. 

Im always pushing the comics on here because for me they enrich the experience and somethings on TV don't come over as well as they did in the comics, so I feel I get the whole TWD experience by doing both forms, however I will discuss stuff when its happened on TV and say it the comic this was different because....

The show is changed enough that it is still interesting enough for comic readers, never be sure this person isn't going to die because they are too important a character because the comics have done it time and time again, and TV has killed off some characters still going in comic so yeah things aren't cut and dry.

If you really aren't enjoying the show as much give the comics a try and if you dont want to do that just give up on the show, I said I while back people will start doing that going forward now.

BTW in relation to the comic, I know Scottie is a reader, DAMN, the latest development was certainly interesting!!!

the first fairly forgettable episode of this run i thought - not much to see here apart from the return of Dwight (burnt face and all)

90 minute episode for the finale. finally get to see Negan!

comic readers - would you be mad if somebody else meets the fate of Lucille instead of Glenn? i haven't even read the comics but have been waiting for this to happen for a long while now and would be pretty disappointed if anybody else but Glenn got their heads smashed in in that iconic scene. a lot of talk about it being another character though to 'shake things up'

It had a few moments, that was the best of it though, classic TWD moment I thought.  Kill a character suddenly and without warning, mid sentence, wakes the audience up.

In answering FloorFillers question, no not at all, would I be mad, if the plan is what im hearing I prefere the result, although who's to say its only 1 person.

There is a worry if the original plan doesn't come to pass, but I can discuss this post season.
