Campervan East vs Campervan West

We originally booked tickets this year for CV West as we come down the M5 from South Wales. But then I realised that CV East was closer to the places where we watch a lot of our music - Acoustic Stage etc. Luckily I was able to find someone to do a swap.

CV East was great for us but I'd start by thinking about where you're likely to be at the end of the night. If you're a John Peel/Dance person then CV West will be closer for you.

Remember that at the end of the night you may have to trek across the festival site before you exit and then head up to your chosen CV field.

Initially we booked CV West because I was put off by all the talk about the Hill of Death. In the end swapped for CV East tickets because it was closer to the Acoustic Stage where we often ended up at night.

When I actually climbed the HoD I really wondered what all the fuss was about. Admittedly last year it was dry and I don't know how much more difficult it would be when very wet.

Yes it's a haul but just take it steadily and occasionally pause to enjoy the view. It's no more of a hill than going up to the Stone Circle or walking back up to Worthy FM/Radio Avalon where we always used to camp.

I've stayed in both.

CV east is big. If you end up at the back of the field it's a long walk to the gate. The hill of death is a pain if its very wet - muddy slopes are never easy to climb - but it was never too bad.

CVwest has the same facilities - toilets, water, food place. The gate was just used by the CV field, so the queue to get in and out was never very big, but also we didn't get given the free stuff that we got at the gate for CV east like bin bags, loo roll etc.

CV east is nearer to a lot of stages. Going back at the end of the night is better in some ways as you go past entertainment.

But if you are wavering over whether you made the right decision by going in a campervan/ trailer tent, all that doubt disappears as you enter the site in the morning from CVwest and go through the camping areas and see the huge queues for toilets, taps and cups of tea.
