But you haven't explain how much I can get, what it'll be worth in today's money and how much it'll cost. Effectively, it would mean changing dramatically my current circumstances in favour of not a lot when I retire. I don't see what the benefit is with that.

Assuming you earn 15k and want your pension income to increase with inflation and don't want a lump sum then you'd get about £300 per month.

If you held off till you were 69 you'd get about £365.

Which is my point - in order to get a non lifestyle changing amount of money in 25 years, I would have to change my lifestyle completely now - and with no guarantee that Id even live until 70 to get it back. I'll stick with the drink and drugs now thanks

You still haven't explained why its stupid. So far you've come up with me needing money if Im too ill to work and I pointed out that if Im too ill to work, Im too ill to spend extra money too. You pointed out that my daughter who by then will be at least 38 can claim any pension I don't get and you've told me that I can make my life significantly worse now in order to get a virtually nothing amount of money when Im 69 with no guarantee that I'll even get it all back and without a lump sum to blow in the pub. I cant see the selling points here if Im being honest oaf

Look.. Me Mate is dead in the water...same as me. Unfortunately, not all of us had a Dad like yours passing on such gems of financial and life-living guidance.

Its good that you with your tender years are able to pass that same knowledge on to us Efesters.

However, I think this sort of advice here atm is probably better aimed at the younger element.My Mate has stated... atm--he`s buzzin. Life is great, he`s doing all these things, albeit not on the same scale as your sojourns of course.

It is simply not worth cutting an arm off now, to have a finger nail later.

He`ll be ok when he`s older... he`ll get a place in a home with those high-backed chairs and pictures of woodland scenes on the walls.

It is much easier preaching from the pulpit when you got the church funds to sit on.

What do you mean for all those years? There are significantly fewer years for me from retiring at 69 to living til Im 85 than there are for me from now until Im 69. What am I going to live off until then?
