given the abuse that's come my way about this, what sort of abuse do you think would have come those women's way if they'd dared to express their views to the mysoginists and worse who have an over-blown sense of their own righteousness?

Just as the abuse that's come at me has been unjustifed - because, I repeat, no one has been able to justify the pictures being posted here that kicked this off - they'd have also got that unjustified abuse. If you think that everyone wants to willing subject themselves to that from some overly-small minds then you're more than just daft.

I have no respect for some of the views expressed here. Not all views are worthy of respect.

As I've said, I'd rather this site was populated by fewer but right-minded people than a greater number of people who are unable to recognise the effect of their posting behaviour.

I made requests over two days that were ignored. It became clear that a tougher stance was necessary to get the message across.

If you don't wish to use these forums in a respectful-to-others manner and recognise that respectful conduct is expected of those who do use these forums and sometimes needs to be enforced, then you are no loss to these forums. Bye.

Why are we going over old ground that is nearly two days old, If it all starts again i am afraid you have brought it back on yourself....

I didn't post that for no reason, I posted it in response to someone believing there was no reason for me to ask - and then enforce because the requests weren't complied with - that the unnecessary sexism in this thread stop.

I've brought nothing on myself. Those who unnecessarily posted those pictures are the cause, no one else.

The point will continue to be hammered home all the while that the posts of others show that there's a need for the point to be hammered home.

I badgered some local farmers last night - they tend to be quite good even if their predictions are based totally on how the cows are behaving...General consensus amongst them seems to be showery but not torrential. Definatley not blazing sun. Informed that I have to take wellies as it looks likely to be marshy - walking the dog this morning, there is a definate boggy feel to the area. I live 20 minutes away from the site, so not too far!

I am not sure I like them any more...

However this is just the opinion, like I say, of the lovely local agricultural folk.

Back to the weather

The Graudian has a bit of a bear's in the woods article on the weather today, basically staing it will be unsettled for the next week

Article

However, "(Sarah) Holland said average temperatures will be around 18C in Somerset, feeling colder in wind and showers, but offered festival goers a glimmer of hope: "The south-west looks to have the best of the weather of the UK with a better chance of sunny spells."

From the Guardian, Met Office thoughts on Glasto. Not too bad! :)

"The outlook for next week remains unsettled with a mix of sunshine and showers unfortunately," said Sarah Holland, a fellow Met Office forecaster.

Don't wanna bang on about being a veteran and all that. But, I'm sure there are many on here who remember 97, 98? Was grim wasn't it?

I remember stages sinking, shit lorries blowing instead of sucking, trenchfoot, the man on the radio on route to the site saying "its been raining solid for 48 hours!" At night it was like Mad Max, ambulances everywhere, sirens blaring, people falling, raving, tripping everywhere, horizontal sheet rain, a real possibility of the whole gig being cancelled!

But I also remember Radiohead in 97, Dylan in 98 when the sun shone for the first time. Oh and for some reason I remember being in a clothes stall, knee deep in water watching Beckham score a free kick against Columbia! Good times, happy times! People, next week will be a wonderful festival, the weather will happen, we'll get wrecked, we'll trip, fall, get lost, we'll bimble! Doesn't get any better than that. :)

Absolutely chucking it down here in NI this morning, as we are leaving in the morning(yippppppeeeeeeeeeee) I used forces that I can't go into to drag all the rain this direction. It will rain solidly here for the next ten days leaving the South West of England perfectly dry. I did leave a few non rain clouds there though for some shade every now and again.

I am currently viewing the weather via the medium of footwear. If boggy but not too muddy shall be walking boots, if mudfest at anypoint (including wednesday turning up) then shall be wellies.

At the moment I am hesitatingly (hang on is that a word) going with the walking boots still, but only just!

I am sure I heard on the radio radio this morning that it is brightening up on Saturday / Sunday with temps expected around 21 degrees. This excites me enormously as I remember in 2005 how quickly the site dried up.

Keep the faith peeps it's gonna be perfect.

Yes! We survived through that, and became better people! ;)

I remember the bitter cold of '97, waking up in a sleeping bag half-submerged, surrounded by toilet rolls the size of footballs, wrapped in blankets, staggering from one tea tent to another, just to keep our insides warm. Seeing people lose their wellies in the plasticine mud, and stalls you couldn't get to without a boat.

I also remember making friends in those tea tents, my friends helping me out with the flooding situation, the survivalist spirit of everybody on site, and almost bursting into tears when the rain stopped for a brief moment during one particular act, the sun came out, and I bumped into a friend I hadn't seen for aaaages...

Happy days.

Sh!t days, but happy ones also... ;)

I used to like this in the morning from that Devon fella, so here it is! I'm happy with that!

:)

Here's my update for today:

JackOne: On the basis that there could be 3 or 4 dry days, I am going for a 5, and if it wasn't for the GFS 12Hz outlier run, it would be lower than 5 (lower numbers are better)

GFS: Rain Monday. Over the festival there is a reasonable chance that it will be limited to a few showers early on. There is a low which tracks to the North and it needs to stay that way (or go further North).

TWO: Rain Thursday and Saturday morning (could be early hours which would be OK as there's not that much).

Meteox: Lots of rain in the run up. Showers over the festival.

Meteo: Rain Monday. Showers Wednesday and Thursday.

GFS Ensemble: Looking OK. Rain Mon/Tue, but then dry over the festival and pressure slowly rising.

Met Office: Changeable and windy. Not a true daily update at this stage.

ECM: Optimistically, it could be dry Thu-Sat.

YR.NO: Rain Monday. Showers until Friday.

Summary: Firstly, there is still no consensus and I don't really expect one until the storm has passed over today and tomorrow. Over the festival I expect it to be cloudy with a risk of showers at all times, but the serious risk of showers is on Wednesday and Thursday. The true test is how well the drainage copes with very likely rain today/tomorrow and likely rain on Mon/Tue.

Looking at the radar, looks as though Glastonbury has dodged a bullet so far. It's about to piss down here but a hole as appeared over Somerset and if that continues it might only be small amounts of rain. However NI is defo taking one if the team today! Looks very wet and as such has a weather warning! Good work NI !!!!

DH's update has been posted above, here is a link to the actual post:

Devon Hammer Morning Update

Worth a look that forum lots of interesting stuff there, also I don't think it is appropriate to cut and paste between the forums. If DH chooses to post over there and not here then just read over there (netweather.tv).

That said I am sure DH does not care and I am just being pedantic.
