Weather thread 2011

Whatever it is now; even if the site is 'a bog already' as posted earlier, it's all a few days off yet. Think of previous times when it's got quite muddy on say the thurs / fri and despite this, the ground has dried and you're sitting on the glass on Saturday.

It'll be ace you just see. I'm dressing as the Foul Mouthed Geisha so it had better be nice; wellies would ruin the look

Thanks Neil ;)

There is no way it will be a r***y festival as I sacrificed myself to the Weather Gods at the IOW festival.

Any coincidence that the weather forecast started to turn bad again after we stopped posting pics of Germans?! We need to remain positive now for the run in! This time last year we still thought we were in for thunderstorms!

Ok, not such good news today but the general consesus is not much rain or dry through to Sunday, with Friday and Saturday dry. However all the signs are for rain on Sunday - at the moment. This is not a bad result for us, as the main bands are on Friday and Saturday.

This is what the JACKONE said:

The good news is Friday looks dry, Saturday looks dry after the GFS backed down from its earlier rain, however there may be showery rain on Wednesday and Thursday, which may not amount to that much, but there are signs it may be wet on Sunday with rain pushing in from the west, as such my score is a 6 based on the models tonight.

I'd take it day by day at the moment this weather malarky. Sounds a cop out but I've been on the Cumbrian fells last couple of days. According to weather on Internet it is raining now as we speak but I'm outside in evening sunshine chilled cider in hand and no r**n all day!!!

Sorry to report, that whilst it was really windy and dry this morning, it's been mizzling non stop all afternoon and evening, and the ground is now most decidedly squashy. It sucks. It's still not too muddy anywhere much, but it will be if it stays like this for when you all arrive. Fingers crossed it changes soon.

As long as it's not raining for setting up on Tuesday and taking down on Monday I can cope. But I have today bought a new poncho and a waterproof jacket and trousers.

tell you what, I've just been out walking my dog in cold persistent heavy rain, it's been raining here for about 6 hours. If it's like this for more than a couple of days at Glasto I'll be bailing out. Been there done that, wet muddy ones but wet cold muddy ones then it's seeya later I'm off!

Slag me if ya want!

98 was my first year, nowhere to sit and upto knees in water and mud but you know what I've been to every one since, can't think of anywhere in the world I would rather be in June.. WHATEVER the weather (but dry would be good)

I think the weather makes such a big difference to the enjoyment of Glastonbury. If weather is good (or even just ok which I think we're going to get) then there's no where I'd rather be - if not like in 97/98 (wasn't there in 2007) then it really is total poo and I'd rather be somewhere else to be honest.

Its hard to take when its shit, plus I think when ur getting on a bit(35) and you've been to the last 17 or 18 G's the ones like 2007 etc... are just not so much fun.

Its a shame but thats how it is

Having just got in from a walk along clifftops in north Cornwall, it seems that rain and mud could be the least of Glastonbury's worries.

It's blowing a hoolie. The wind was so fierce (stronger than I've ever known in June) that at times I thought I was going to be blown over. If it hits Pilton like that, things could go flying.

And judging by the swell (very big and messy), there are some BIG storms out in the Atlantic.

The wind is roaring round my house as I write this.

And maybe wind might be a good thing - it could dry all that wet ground.
