Found out today that my son has a Year 10 modular ICT GCSE on the Friday morning :O We had planned to go down on Wednesday but now can't, so will travel down late Friday morning. Not ideal I know but how long do you reckon the journey would take from Merseyside. If the rumours are true I so want to see U2 as they are my all time fave band so will I make in in time?

Being serious !

U2 would not be on until 9.30 at the earliest , to cover all bases , if you do not have anyone setting

up for you , if time is getting a bit tight , just leave all your stuff in the car and walk through

with minimum stuff , and sort it following morning !

Is year 10 approx 15?

If so...

1 Leave him at home :D

2 You go on Wed and pitch, go back for him Thurs night

3 You go down on Wed as planned and let him get the train and meet him at the local station

Possibly James Hunt's idea is best though.

I had a similar question, I can't get down until the Friday morning either, does anyone know how bad the traffic is in the roads approaching the site and car parks on the Friday morning? should I be expecting queues of several hours or does the traffic flow pretty well after the mad rush on Wednesday/Thursday?

If it's bad I may well leave very early, maybe 5am on the Friday morning.

Any help appreciated as 2011 will be my first Glasto since 1994!

Well considering these past couple of years pretty much everyone is on site by Wednesday, Friday arrivals should be a breeze.

I arrived thursday afternoon - about 3 o'clock and breezed through Glastonbury town, straight into car park, no delay at all.

It then took me about an hour lugging my trolley (which didnt have that much stuff on as my tent wa already there) to get to gate A!!!

Those western car parks go back as far as the severn bridge!!!!

I would try and get onto site just as its getting light , friends of ours drove thru the night and rolled up at 5.00 am Thursday and there were no traffic or gate problems , the odd car in the car

park etc , and no one apart from staff at the gates.

I've driven from south Liverpool several times now, though always leaving on the wednesday at 3am ish, the journey (apart from 2009!)takes about 5-6hours max without any problems at that time in the morning. Birmingham and round Bristol are the main hold ups outside of those times, and I've had friends who have left at lunchtime on the friday last year and arrived before 8pm. x
