Metal at Reading?

I like a very wide variety of music so I am interested to see what the you people will think. What do you think of a bit of metal at Reading? Yes, I know there are festivals with a focus on heavy rock (Download) but I would love to see some variety at Reading. Let me know who you think could play, where it would be (main, lock up) or if the demographic of the festival just doesn't fit for this kind of music.

There already is a bit of metal at Reading - so this thread has lost me somewhat.

If you're on about having more smaller/less commerical/'Download type' metal bands then I don't really see where a lot of them could go on the lineup without the festival being expanded with extra stages and capacity and what not.

The festival is a rock festival. Therefor metal is always welcome. BUT it's when people start to say there should be more metal than everything else that's the problem. R/L's has never been a metal festival (except for a very regretable spell in the 80's) and therefore should not be just about metal or even have masses of of it (especially as there are several metal festivals in this country). Reading has (in the last 20 years at least) been a Indie/Alternative festival, and other forms of rock have been very welcome to attend (including metal), but i don't think it'll ever change.

That's good to hear. To be honest I am new to Reading so I was just trying to learn some things about it, I am not at all saying READING NEEDS MORE METAL!!! Just looking for some variety at the festival but apparently I should be looking deeper into the alternative stages. Anyways, thanks for the replies
