Gre
Gre who posts here and is an accountant (or trainee, I forget) says that company dividends are taxed as income tax, tho at a lower rate (I'd assumed they weren't classed under income tax, because of that different & lower tax rate). So if he's also taking a divi that takes his income over £44k, then I'd guess he'd still lose the child benefit.
RABun
I'm interested in what he's got to say - if no-one was interested they wouldnt argue with him surely. He's still a twerp and i dont agree with most of the stuff he talks about but at least it saves me from being bored. If oafish goes away who am i going to shout at?

RABun
I think there was a study recently that highlighted that parents even working full time actually spend more time one to one with their children now than they did when i was young. Now there are good things and bad things, nursery/playgroup/childminder is great for socialisation. But when your childs day is regimented from the minute they get up to the minute they go to bed and they have no time for getting bored, they don't develop into rounded human beings. I think kids should be left to get on with things a bit so they can learn to develop coping skills etc. Probably from about the time they can sit up and play with toys, they should be encouraged to use imagination without adults guiding them on how to play with that particular toy etc. Collective guuilt on the part of working parents doesnt help as they feel they are neglecting their children and so when they are at home with them they lavish attention and love on them and sometimes i think it goes a bit too far. My niece is a complete nightmare of a child because she has basically been spoiled by her guilt ridden parents from the moment she was born. a little bit of healthy neglect is good for them

sifi
Has he gone again, then? Or is it his usual boy who cried wolf routine, as usual. That time he f**ked off for a couple of weeks was bliss around here.

feral chile
Let me help you all then. When you are developing software the best idea is to test early and often. So you write some new code, you compile it and you test it. When you are working on big projects the compilation time can take some time. I don't expect you to understand to be frank. It doesn't take me a long time to post. Good for you... One family has to go to work to get by and the other live of the workings of that other family. It is hardly the starting point of fairness is it. Edited October 29, 2010 by feral chile
rachbon
i thought the forums were great when he f**ked off the last time. as soon as he came back (for the weekend) he just started posting his usual narrow minded, offensive, know it all pish.. and continued to do so for months. i know that people don't have to argue back with him, because that just means he'll post more, but there are some things you just can't ignore. some of his opinions and views NEED to be challenged. i'm sure he'll be back though, he can't resist posting on here about how good a parent is and how shite everyone else is, while he's ignoring his own child to spend all his time on here Edited October 30, 2010 by _rachelbon
