James Brown is one I missed... he played Oxegen about 18 months before he died, and I went to see the Foo Fighters instead  My best mate went along, and said although basically did 1-song-on-2-songs-off, the dancing & the vocal power was still there. Gutted :(

On my list... Springsteen & The Stones for definite.

Aye, but that's just your opinion.

Not just mine. I'd say it's the opinion of the vast majority of people who've ever seen them (tho of course the obsessives might not say that).

I've seen them at least three times, and they've all been of the same boringness, and that's been the opinion of everyone around me on those occasions too - including the types who knew every word to every song.

So knowing every word to every Cure song is the deciding factor in thinking that The Cure are boring live?

Care to tell me how many X Factor obsessive types you think know the words to every Cure song?:lol:

You have no idea what the vast majority think Neil and people returning in their droves to see The Cure live is an indication that the vast majority of their fans disagree with you.

I certainly know what the vast majority of Cure fans stood near to me thought on the occasions I've seen them.

Even if you're not smart enough to recognise that view will be reflected across the whole crowd, I am. :)

Their obsessive fans returning to see them again and again doesn't change that. They're obsessives, they want to see The Cure no matter how good or bad they might be.

Of course, by saying that these people are just obsessive is a good way to justify your own opinion.

No different to anyone else, I'll happily go and watch a bad performance by my favourite bands, even when I know they only do bad performances. Why the f**k do you think I've seen The Cure three times despite th4em being shit the first and second time?

It's a matter of opinion Neil. Boring is a subjective quality. Thank you for the warning, but I don't care. I'm going to see them anyway.

Yes, it's a matter of opinion, but the widely held opinion is the one I've stated, as so many Cure fans can tell you.

You're more than welcome to see them anyway - I wouldn't expect anything else. I made that clear in my first reply to you.

As for my opinion, you're only in the place to criticise it when you have a valid opinion of your own - when you've seen them yourself. And when you do, if you're able to take your fan-head off to give an unbiased review, then there's a very strong chance you'll agree with me. :)

do they really get 50m viewers like? :P

don't see how it's so hard to imagine that they'll be rubbish live. i saw stone sour on tuesday night. saw a comment on facebook about someone that said they were disappointed with them last time. and i was determined to prove her wrong. but i really couldn't. they were average.

I didn't imply that, you did when you said 'the vast majority' as a qualification.

No I didn't. I was referring to the vast majority of people who have seen The Cure.

Very well. Doesn't translate to the vast majority though does it.

Yes it does. I wasn't stood in a unique group of the only people who are huge Cure fans but who know they#'re a long way from a great live act.

An opinion, nevertheless.

An opinion that I share with the majority of the people who have seen The Cure live, I'm certain. :)

You mean the same 'fan-head' that has clearly stated that he will not consider the opinions of others until he himself has been to see them?

no I mean any 'fan-head' who can put aside their fandom to give an unbiased opinion that is not a result of their fandom.

One day Neil, one day.....

And I hope you enjoy it. I know if you can view it unbiasly, you probably won't think it any great shakes - but you'll probably still enjoy it hugely, with that enjoyment being internal to you rather than because of a great performance by the band.

Neil.. why do you care so much when people like someone you don't?

:lol::lol:

You'd have a point if that was anything near to what I've said.

I've merely told him that even mega-Cure fans don't much like The Cure live. Because they don't. It doesn't stop them going to see them or enjoying it tho, because they're mega-Cure fans. It's the same for nearly all people with their favourite bands.

Worm doesn't like something I don't - he hasn't seen them to know if he likes them.

And as can be seen from other posts in this thread, those that have posted about also having seen them are agreeing with me. :)

FFS.
