Being a contract workers means you have no affiliation with a company and do what you do on an independent basis; you are just a guy on a list along with about 50 or 60 other people. You either work directly for a company or you don't, and it's an important distinction that you simply didn't make.

You can try justifying yourself until you are blue in the face but it's not going to change the fact that you're talking out of your arse and this thread has now been rendered completely obsolete.

Yeah... it's not. As someone who has regular interaction with a freelance worker, you don't get anything more than the job you do. You get a brief, and by that I mean literally, you'll get location and a few little details, but unless that person is doing work with booking the bands, they don't know who's playing.

but lets be honest all the festivals are going to be healdined by a maximum of 7 or 8 bands so people have a good chance of guessing right.

now guessing the radio 1 stage is much harder.

Well exactly.

I think the point is, if you work as a private contract worker you stand to gain very little insight into the innermost workings of an organisation that thrives on its secrecy. You know what you get paid to know and you don't stand around long enough to pay much attention because doing so isn't what people pay you for.

I mean, OKB has gone on constantly about how he worries that revealing his source will compromise his employment and yet as a contract worker, something like that wouldn't even be a concern because... well, if you're a contract worker, how could an organisation as big as, for example, the NME even know who heard what and when, when there are so many contract workers that come and go?

Going back to the start of this thread btw, the original poster OKB originally said Foo Fighetrs aren't playing Reading and Leeds cus they're headlining Download, at this time the post was started Foos were already a rumour on efestivals and we had already discussed with site admin and on the Download forums that they were playing Download.

Now the same thing happened with System of a Down Friday night and then ages after its very public OKB comes on here and says that SOAD are playing Download, and Ozzy we've known for ages too.

So in regards to Download, all the info in here is old news adn no inside sources at all.

Since the original statement OKB you've since gone on to talk about numerous festivals and acts saying you have inside information from a source on all this, that originally you couldn't say public on these boards cus the guy would get sacked, but then have since told Gazza and offered it to me as well in a PM, a PM doesn't make it anymore of a secret I could have just posted whatever you told me on these boards and so could Gaz.

Regardless, this has been a really entertaining thread so ta all involved!
