How could you tell it was Kate clone, she's pretty average looking to me?

have you not seen the pic that's on the front of one (or more?) of today's papers? That was who I saw (tho presumably it wasn't actually Kate walking thru a Bristol suburb).

It's about how to dress and how to have your hair. It all happened 30 years ago too (and is still going on in the grannies hairdresser around the corner from me, which has a little Di shrine every August ).

We talked about this in class before. I was genuinely shocked at how many people dont have a problem with it. People were happy that they were paying for these phenomenally wealthy people to have a party, on the grounds that it will make other people happy. I cannot see how anyone could be happy at the thought of two people they dont know getting married.

I do find it amazing that in this age of multiple media outlets, that people are still willing to swallow the royals and the spin that surrounds them hook line and sinker.

On my facebook, I have been told i have gone too far, that I dont know what I am talking about and so many other things. Its actually ridiculous.

Revolution is the key.

She's not gorgeous. I actually caught some of the news today and thought how distinctly un-gorgeous she is.

And its not going to be all lovely. Its going to be our state at its worst, Loads of scum waving their silly little union jacks whilst the capital is brought to a standstill. And lets not forget the cost, whilst we're all in this together the government has already set up a committee to plan for this disgrace.

Cynical? Your child benefit is at risk, your husbands job (could be) at risk, we're throwing hundreds of thousands of people on the dole, but we'll happily toss a few tens of millions of pounds to pay for this travesty? This country has its priorities wrong.

This is not hate or negativity, its a simple interpretation of the facts. I've never understood why a supposed informed and educated society such as our own feels the need to offer blind support and allegiance to this band of leeches.

Two people I dont know are getting married. What's there to celebrate? I daresay the cost would be a lot more than policing a derby, think of all the special services used, the police guarding the parade route. The cost will be tens of millions of pounds.

I find it amazing that the UK, and other so called developed countries cannot shake off their attachment to the idea of a monarchy. And people get so excited about something which will cost them money. How nice it will be to see the aristocracy and the establishment have a big shindig at taxpayers expense, especially in these times of austerity. its enough to make you turn Marxist.

Time for a consitutional revamp. As usual, we should look towards Germany.

The thing is, the sellers of the 'tat' as you put it, have nothing to do with the Royal family. All those commemorative plates, coins, pictures, etc just line the pockets of the anonymous companies that make them. As for the cost of a President. Well, its estimated that the Royal Family cost anywhere from £40 Million to £100 million. By contrast, the German President costs less than £10 million. Considering Mrs. Windsors personal wealth is estimated to be over £300 Million (surely she should pay for the wedding then?), i think the state is getting a bit ripped off.

I've also never bought into the argument that the Queen brings us in money. France still gets millions of people in, as does Germany, and the USA. They dont have a monarchy.

This wedding will be a dark day in the history of this country. Liam; your mate has it exactly right. When the unemployment figures approach 3 Million, as they surely will over the next year, people will get distracted from the true problems of the country whilst the establishment of people who have never had to work a day in their lives for anything have a big party at our expense.

And in terms of contributing to the economy. In terms of a cost to productivity output, I'm not so sure. Think about it, I, at the moment, cost the UK taxpayer the precise sum of £0.00p. However, from September, I reckon that partly because of me, there will be 20 students at University all paying those fees, and in the long term most of them will contribute to the UK economy through purchasing, employment etc. I also contribute through spending money in the UK, paying back my student loan, investing in a pension etc. But I cost the UK taxpayer nothing. So in pure percentage terms, as my % worth is over 100%, I probably contribute more to the UK economy.

A social revolution is key.

We need to have a more informed, more critical, questionable society. This blind worship of the royals is endemic of society at large. Two people are getting married, people think they should be happy so they are happy, without any discernible reason. People are subjects of the royals, and they happy with this. Think of the national anthem, God Save the Queen. Is that was our country is about. God Save the Queen? A deity saving a monarch? Is that what sums the nation up? Centuries of civilization, is that what we stand for?

People in this country dont know about rights, about the difference between a citizen and a subject, about what having a monarchy really means. It really is quite sad.

But why isnt is a pressing issue?

Our so called neutral broadcast media were about as biased as it gets when it came to the wedding announcement, as they are with the vast majority of royal issues. Where were the people quite rightly raising concerns about cost, about democracy etc? Nowhere to be seen. The media told us what a happy event this was, how we should all be happy, how wonderful it was, along with all the details ad nauseam.

As a society, we have been conditioned through the media, through education etc to see the monarchy as a good thing. Whenever there i a debate about the royals on TV, its usually a politician and a friend of the royal family. There hasnt been a debate because there is no democracy on this issue.

Its usually the case when not agreeing with you.

Care to point out any logic in their thinking, where they think anyone on benefits living the most basic of lives is a scrounger, but those getting millions a year in state benefits are to be applauded?

Because there is no logic to their thinking, then gross stupidity combined with fear of change is the only rational conclusion.

Now, try and disagree with that while making yourself feel like you're putting me down, small minded moron. :)
