Ok, second question...

Vodafone website says, "And don’t forget – along with early access to tickets, you’ll also get the chance to soak up the festival atmosphere from our exclusive Vodafone VIP viewing platform."

Now...

When I went to Leeds last year I noticed down past the Alternative tent there was extra security letting people in with different passes to my own. I then discovered this led people behind the fencing towards the stage. I looked closer and noticed people with tents far away from the madness of Orange and the favelas of White and Yellow...

What, exactly, do these VIP passes entitle you to?

Well it will be good to get them before the VAT increase, and for Xmas presents. It would be good to get them out early along with an early announcement on the acts perofrming.

It would defo crock some peoples plans for saving for the festival though. I would hate to think they all went on sale and sold out.

I'm till waiting for Vodafone to give me a decent answer.

Here's the message I sent to them:

And here's the response I got back:

No, actually, it didn't help because so far as I can tell, there's no real explanation for any of my questions on the Vodafone website and it seems right now that either A. you're choosing to be obtuse and not giving away any details, OR... B. standing in an exclusive box so you can see the main stage better is the only benefit so there's no real difference between an ordinary ticket and a VIP Vodafone ticket.

From what i remember Vodafone VIP don't pay the charitable donation (that everyone else does) that was £30 last year - I could be wrong. you get to sit in the Vodafone area (not backstage hospitality area) which guarantees you can't hear any of the acts, you get to spend money in the more expensive bar, and get to use the loos and you get to be crammed into the Viewing Platform if you wish to, you do get a separate camping area I think

Anyone was able to use the Vodafone VIP viewing platform/area at Reading 5co77ie provided you showed them your vodafone mobile.. you didn't need special tickets/wristbands etc.

No seperate camping area either, they were not allowed access to hospitality area or guest camping.

Just a quick update for those of you who are interested in the whole Vodafone promotion.

Following the conversation I posted on here yesterday I sent them a message that said:

I am still completely bewildered as to understanding the purpose of the promotion. To my knowledge, you'll be releasing limited amounts of tickets for different festivals on December the 1st. I am a keen festival go-er and all I'm asking is for you to give me insight into how, exactly, the tickets you are offering are better than standard tickets and what benefits there are in choosing your tickets over ones that Ticketmaster or SeeTickets will offer in the future.

I mean, it seems a lot to ask of somebody to be expected to put potentially extra money down on something if, ultimately, you pay extra for seemingly nothing different.

I would just like to know what you offer in your promotion that other ticket retailers do not before I consider purchasing a ticket on December the 1st.

Quite possibly the most pointless email I've ever received. Is it really that much of a difficult question to answer?

Ahh okay thanks for unravelling this Paul - they need to change their blurb then - it mentions a camping area (and separate parking for that matter - but I knew they didn't get that) . Worth knowing about the phone thing - I might use that to take some decent crowd/stage photos next year.
