£40 quid cheaper than last year!

Or is that as a foot passenger. So glad we split out ferry cost eight ways, or well four ways twice.

I booked our ferry yesterday, and if you've not booked yet you need to get a wriggle on!! Especially if you want to do a car ferry from Portsmouth. You either have to go early hours of the morning or there is nothing till lunchtime, coming back Monday all I can say is don't plan on getting back too early, cos you won't!!

For 3 adults and a car it was about 160 quid, Portsmouth to Fishbourne. Believe me we did plenty of thinking about it, initial thoughts were to go as foot passengers to save money and just take a couple of small tents and rucksacks, but then by the time you have added the cost of getting to Portsmouth either by train, or having to rely on someone to take us and also be there to pick us up on Monday. Or even worse someone driving as far as portsmouth and having to pay parking charges for 4 days, it all added up. THEN I thought back to the Monday morning after V Festival last year and remembering how I felt and the thought of adding queueing up to get coaches to the ferry, either waiting for a lift or even worse a train to get home on top of that made me want to cry!

I am hoping that the fact that this festival requires a little more outlay means that some of the more un-savoury people who appear to turn into sub-human beings when you add tents, music and booze that I have encountered at V will be absent!

Hi, I am considering buying a ticket & going alone this year for the headliners. I went to Bestival last summer & got a train ticket from where I live in Surrey to Ryde Pier for about £30 return on the day. Just turn up at Portsmouth (I live in a commuter town so can get a fast train that comes from London Waterloo) & walked over to ferry terminal at the station & went over on the 100ft cat as a foot passenger.

Can I just again do this & get a shuttle bus from Ryde Pier to the fest? Travel info page on the official site just sends me to Wightlink, Red Funnel etc.
