Sonisphere now in July

1. It's been brought forward in order that they can use the same weekend the following year (2012) to avoid clashing with the Olympic games which would have happened with the previous end of July/beginning of August dates.

2. It looks almost certain that a 4 day gap has been left between the Manchester date (8th) and Newcastle date (12th) on Blink 182's schedule in order that they could headline either the Saturday or Sunday (more likely in terms of days between tour dates) at Sonisphere.....

It was always going to be in July most likely, so it's hardly moved to July...it was in July this year. ANYWAYS...the move is for several reasons.

1. To set a precedent for an earlier 2012 fest due to Olympic games

2. To fit in with the other 14 EU Sonis they are doing

3. Probably due to Maiden dates clashing with the Soni weekend anyways - though Maiden's booking agent co-owns Sonisphere so probably purposefully put them later if he know the festival was earlier.

Anyways, I don't know about Blink...remember those 2 free dates are during T in the Park. With NO Scottish Date on this tour - and a lengthy English TOur, they could be set to headline T in the Park - in fact I'm almost certain they will be there...so I don't think Soni will get them too. They could do both, but at the moment I'm thinking Blink will be at T. However Foos are in the area around about that time, and rumoured to headline T in the Park, so they may make a Sonisphere appearance...I'd imagine Foos are more likely to be at Sonisphere over Blink

It has moved to before the school holiday break. Schools break up around the 3rd week of July.

My friend is having to take her daughter out of school to go!

I wonder what effect this will have on the atmosphere at Soni. Last year there were a lot of families there. But I can't see a lot of people taking their kids out of school just for a festival. I mean, some schools are proper mean about taking kids out during term time!!!
