Bestival 2011

It does this year - what a w*nk line-up it is, and the arrogance of the man (Melvin Benn) to say that Sonisphere is shite when the four bands appearing on the Sunday piss over his mainstage AND his NME stage headliners put together, and I can say that confidently without bias because I'm not going to Sonisphere. The only people who'll be interested in going to Reading and Leeds this year are pop culture aficianados who are ignorant and don't know any better but follow trends because it seems like the 'cool' thing to do, and people who justify their ticket purchase by essentially telling us they've bought them out of routine more than anything - "I always go to Reading/Leeds" etc.

Bollocks.

Reading and Leeds doesn't have anything on Bestival's line-up this year in terms of diversity, and for somebody to turn around and say Bestival is shit and Reading isn't is an erroneous statement on an entirely different level at best and complete lack of awareness and insight, and downright stupidity at worst.

Why does that make them a mug? I enjoy Reading every time I go and personally think the lineup there is brilliant this year!

Bestival strikes me as a completely different thing and also has a great lineup but going to Reading doesn't make them a mug!

On the other hand, you've just wasted your time telling somebody with an opinion that he is an idiot and not really supplied sustainable opinion to counter the apparently 'worst argument ever'. That was clever, wasn't it? Kind of makes you wonder if it was a worst response to an argument ever.

I never said it was fact, and I never masqueraded it as such, just that judging by the 'slowness' of Festival Republic to shift R+L tickets in comparison to some years where they sell out within a few weeks, the line-up clearly isn't appealing to the majority of pop culture junkies that usually attend it as they have nothing remotely amazing to look forward to, or make them go 'wow!' on the scale Bestival has to a lot of people this year. I think by July/August R+L will be begging eBay to get their hands on some tickets.

What you have to take into consideration is the general consensus of opinion of the attendees and past attendees of both festivals to judge some comparative measure and so far, out of all the people attending, the only complaints I've heard regarding Bestival are from people saying they won't be seeing Pendulum. That's it. It's an entirely different story with R+L.

and months, weekend tickets are still available now! In my opinion the R&L line up is pretty much as expected, it just doesn't have the wow factor which Bestival has shown from The Cure, Public Enemy, PJ Harvey and Brian Wilson

I think it would be closed minded to think that, to be honest. The minute anybody says something like "oh music isn't how it used to be" or something similar, all it serves to do is make that person seem out of touch with popular culture.

It's not gonna be..

Sigur Ros, Orbital, Arcade Fire, Beastie Boys, Daft Punk, Soundgarden, Suede, Orbital, Sonic Youth, Spiritualized, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Lou Reed, Morrissey, Arctic Monkeys, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Strokes, Soulwax, Kate Bush, Morrissey, Adam Ant, Missy Elliott, David Bowie, Blondie, Moby, Radiohead, Streets, PULP or Friendly Fires.

No idea, no idea whatsoever.

Wouldn't have thought so, I'd be very surprised if they were considered big enough to headline above some of the other already announced acts.

Have Elbow been mentioned? Stevie Wonder? Or what about someone like Elton John? Bit random but the whole line-up's random!
