Or very much how you read it. I've clarified it enough now for you to rest assured knowing that I wasn't comparing Jane's Addiction's timeless quality to the that of The Beatles, but on the other hand I yearn for a day when I can have a student come up to me and tell me that I have a t-shirt they can identify with, or care enough about them doing in case it might be worth mentioning it at a later date.

Personally I've never met a guy with a band shirt who didn't know the band but I wouldn't be surprised if there was, I have found there's definitely an element of girls who do buy shirts because they look pretty* or saw Jordan/Gwen Stefani/Britney Spears or whoever in the tabloids and thinks it's cool. On a whole I think it's a minority of people who buy band shirts without a clue to who they are.

I can't think of what to talk about Bestival-wise, last 2 announcements have been a bit deflating, have to wait ages for the next headliner..

Who's everyone looking forward to the most?

Me, probably Boys Noize.

That's exactly what I mean.

It's the value of the music I'm talking about - the disposable way people treat something as invaluable as music; the fact that you can just go out and put money down on something that should be priceless, but means nothing. It's the homogenisation of something people used to feel strongly about before the branded, status-concerned demand of the people dictated that suddenly this once great thing must now be turned into a product ripe for consumption.

I mean, I have this t-shirt for the band Health that's almost non-existent in this country and I treat it as if it's made out of pure iridium it's so precious - to me. At Christmas, I wept tears of blood when I accidentally put my Black Angels t-shirt on a surface covered in bleach, and that's passion you can't buy in HMV or Ben Sherman - that thing took 5 months to get from America and it was in my careless hands for all of 2 days before it was wrecked.

I love all of those bands I've mentioned - the good examples you mentioned too, Joe - and I just resent the fact that I can't go out wearing a proper band t-shirt without feeling the slightest bit ashamed in thinking that I'm contributing to this disposable culture of fashion conscious arseholes.

Just got back from LED Festival in London.

Modestep were incredible, some of the best live dance music I have ever heard. Did live remixes of Cee-Lo Green's "F*** You" & "Kernkraft 400/Zombie Nation". Some of the dirtiest basslines I have ever experienced.

Skrillex was good, a very good DJ but I got fed up with the same songs. Dropped the original version of "Where's Your Head At" that went off.

Nero were very good too but if you've heard their

it's just a longer version of that with Guilt & a few others thrown in. Bit predictable.

My ears are ringing badly.
