although some people are being dramatic, the many who have never heard of her are an indication of how little she has done in recent years. she is one of those artists who has a lot of dedicated fans who will be ecstatic at the announcement. there are, however, at least in my experience, lots of people who like her simply because she is weird an they think it makes them cool. then, there are the many others, who have never really bothered with her because the few songs that they have heard in the last decade or so are absolute piddling tosh. unfortunately for me, I am one of the latter.

Not going to Bestival - but I did go see Bjork last night, and I think she'll be brilliant. She does things her own way, and in the end makes challenging, beautiful, difficult music - and she'll put on quite a show. I wish she played Glastonbury instead of Beyonce who just shakes her butt about a bit and sings covers.

Happy with the Bjork announcement, really looking forward to the festival. If the line-up is an indicator of how good it is, it's sure to be amazing! It'll take a lot to top this year's Glastonbury though even though the line-up is far better at Bestival :)

I'm happy with Bjork being announced I probably only know one or 2 songs so I'll get doing my homework. I don't see why people are angry at her announcement, headliners at festivals for me should be someone you wouldn't usually suspect and from what I have read she puts on an amazing show again something that is needed. Much better than having some boring indie tripe!

....and on what basis are you classifying all these millions of fans? In terms of you thinking that she hasn't done much in years, you don't specify what time period you're looking back on, but like many artists, she releases an album once every 2-4 years. As a solo artist since 1993, she's released 7 albums and as about to release her eighth this year, so that's 8 solo albums in 18 years. She does extensive world tours (not just European) and headlined the Other Stage at Glastonbury in 2007. Maybe you're framing your argument based on the Radio 1 Top 40. If that's the case then yes, she hasn't done much.

What do you mean by "recent years"? Her last album was in 2007 (which feels recent to me, but you might be young enough that 4 years seems like ages), and she's just preparing to release a new one. The single Crystalline was released this week.

She headlined the Glastonbury Other Stage in 2007.

People my age will fondly remember her as a Top 40 / Indie crossover in the 90s, and those slightly older will remember lusting madly after her in the Sugarcubes.

The Björk announcement was the final straw and I can resist this line-up no longer; just booked.

Also means I'll be seeing Mogwai twice in a week, bring it on

kristin as she still makes great music, both taken unfortunately though

Throwing Muses should be touring around September too, anthology and new album releases :)

Hi everyone

I have never been to Bestival but with the Cure and PJ Harvey couldn't resist getting a ticket. Now I'm not so sure I can afford it so said to myself i will see who the third headliner is and decide from there.

When Bjork was announced it hasn't swayed me either way really. I like her and I saw here at Glasto 07 and she was brilliant. She is an amazing performer and will put on a fantastic show but if means I am going to struggle for a few months afterwards I don't think I would do this for her

Does Bestival have an arena set up like Leeds where you have to queue up? or is it open like Glasto? If I decide to go it looks like it will be by myself and don't think I could stand having to cue up everyday to see the music.
