I for one am absolutely delighted that Friendly Fires are an alternative to Pendulum. I never really 'got' them until I saw their set at Glastonbury on iPlayer and then kind of hoped they would be at Bestival just so I could see the same sort of thing there. I said on the official forums that it's not really that much of an inspired booking considering they've played pretty much the A to Z of Summer festivals for the last X amount of years, and it's not a 'massive' announcement as such, but the novelty of them exploring something else is interesting.

A few questions on the arena if anyone can help. So looking at this map from last year, the entrance looks like it is between boutique camping and the fantasy field. If one was to possibly sneak in a (plastic) bottle of wine am I going to get searched after that going from the Fantasy field to the one with Arcadia or Tomorrow's World? Can you take water in? And do they search you for anything other than booze?

It 100% has an arena. However I think this year they are moving the Arcadia stage from its position last year by the lake to somewhere South East in the campsite.

The security is lax at the arena entrance & it is very easy to take your own alcohol in with you. The transition from arena to campsite is minimal with entertainment located next Green campsite (Chai Wallahs, the comedy tent, Bimble Inn, inflatable church, Wishing Tree & shops) where you can take your own booze in with you.

It doesn't answer your question but I just have to say that whenever I look at that map it always staggers me how uncomplicated the layout looks in 2D. I mean I look at the Glastonbury map in comparison and it just seems so small on your computer screen and then when you print it off and layer it over a Google Maps version of the Worthy Farm area, and then look at the scale, it just seems vast and all over the place. I don't go to Glastonbury purely because it just feels as if there's tons of it that I'm going to miss whereas Bestival just seems so neat and tidy, and you're given plenty of time to manage what you want to see so that you can see it all in the time you're given.

I'm so looking forward to this festival.

What have the conditions been like in the past few years? Does the fact it's September make it any/much chillier at night than say glasto? If it rains what's the drainage like? Oh and as others have said, bestival needs it's own efests forum...

Just saw on the main forum (and again don't want to ask on there) but Rob said they have dogs at the door. Anyone know if these are proper sniffer dogs or the sort they have a secret garden party (i.e. just there to scare you but you can walk straight past them carrying)
