You know, I'm so glad I had the foresight to say to my girlfriend in about October or November last year, "we should go to Bestival" - even better when I woke up Christmas morning and she had printed off a piece of paper with the Bestival poster on it, which said everything really. There's just nothing about the festival that strikes me as cynical; nothing about it or the line-up that I look at with hatred, there's no band there I despise; I'm either either positive or ambivalent. It's everything I'm looking forward to, and what's more is the line-up isn't even complete yet. Everything about it just feels surrounded in positive vibrations, and after the experience of Leeds last year, that's the sort of thing I'm looking for.

If it's not the best festival in the UK based on the line-up alone, then it's pretty bloody close. Just hope the layout of the place and the festival atmosphere is something that makes me happy as well.

Seriously considering Bestival this year. My mates are dragging me to Reading but I'm underwhelmed by the line-up, Bestival's by comparison is looking awesome.

Being non(or rubbish) drivers, I've been trying to find some coach/ticket packages from London, but can't find any. Are they sold out or do they just not do them?

Any help will be muchos appreciated.

I went from Surrey last year. Fortunately I live in a commuter town so was able to get the fast train that comes from Waterloo straight to Portsmouth Harbour station. 2 minutes walk & a short queue & I was on the fast (ish) cat across to Ryde Pier. Get a duble decker bus from here straight to the festival site bus drop off site, which is closer to the campsite than the car park entrances. Ticket was £30 return on the day with railcard.

I know its hard to predict but do you guys reckon that there will still be tickets on sale in may? I worked at Bestival last year and loved it! but this year I really want to enjoy it as a normal festival goer but can't afford a ticket till the student loans go through :(

Really excited about this fest, i've always kind of wanted to go as it's one of the last big UK festivals of the year, but never gotten 'round to it. Since I didn't get a Glastonbury ticket (first time round anyway), i'm looking forward to a great weekend!

What does everyone think for Sunday headliner as well? We've got a hip-hop group for Thursday, a rock/dnb band for Friday, a legendary alternative band for Saturday (with another legendary alternative band playing afterwards), so I would presume that we'll get a band/act of a different genre. Perhaps straight up dance/electro, perhaps ska, perhaps funk, perhaps soul, it could be anyone.

Personally i'd love to see The Specials headline on Sunday, their tour kicks off in Amsterdam (I wonder why..?) on Wednesday 14th, so Bestival could be a very nice warm-up gig for them. We've also got people like The Chemical Brothers doing festivals around that time, they're doing Frequency in Germany on the 20th of August, and I should imagine they'll be doing a few other shows around that time as well. Then there's the likes of Earth, Wind and Fire, who are playing globally in 2011 but don't have any shows scheduled after September 2nd.

Either way, lets hope it's going to be a good weekend with some great music and great times!

Don't see why the slot should be allowed to be a 'warmup' for The Specials. My guesses are Radiohead and Chemical Brothers. Radiohead aren't doing any european festivals according to Rob, but maybe they do want to do one at the end of the summer - thus a delay confirming allowing other festivals firm up their headliners so they don't get badgered to do others as well (I know free will says they can just say bugger off). Also Chems, apparently their live show at the moment is awesome.

Is it just The Cure & Pendulum that are confirmed for mainstage headliners? I am having difficulty breaking down the line up this year! If anyone could post some vague bands on stages that would be appreciated!

Btw just paid for my first installment for Bestival!

I still reckon Bjork or Sigur Ros, again absolutely no knowledge going into that or anything but it would make sense. I did think PJ Harvey might be a headliner but it's fantastic to see her and the likes of Public Enemy and Toots not even headlining.
